Exploring new-to-us neighbourhoods is one of our favourite family pastimes. We love getting to know all the little nooks of Metro Vancouver and our kids love discovering new places to play.
This list changes all the time, but here are five of our favourite playgrounds in Metro Vancouver.

Blue Mountain Park
975 King Albert Avenue, Coquitlam
Blue Mountain is an awesome park in West Coquitlam that has a water park, wading pool, playground, and even a simulated mini “road” where kids can bike on “streets,” complete with stop signs and four way stops. We love the roller slide and ropes course.

Queenston Park
3415 Queenston Ave, Coquitlam
This innovative playground is built into the side of a hill and has all sorts of fun ways to climb up and a big slide to race back down. The only downside — there’s no washroom here since it’s just a neighbourhood playground, so make sure to use the bathroom before you leave your house! We love the soft padded playground surface and the various play zones for kids of all ages.

Hume Park
660 E Columbia St, New Westminster
Hume Park in New West is the perfect park for ninja warrior training. Kids will love climbing, sliding, and scaling the playground. There’s a spray park and an outdoor pool too, so make sure to bring bathing suits and towels. We love that the outdoor pool is free on summer weekends and that there’s a concession stand for emergency snack purchases.

Confederation Park
250 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby
Confederation Park is one of those places you can spend an entire day. There’s a super fun playground, a water park, skateboard plaza, tennis courts, and big outdoor fields to play in. Plus, right across the street is the Model Steam Railway where you can ride on miniature trains on weekends throughout the summer. We love the covered picnic area and the giant saucer swings.

Terra Nova Adventure Play Environment
2340 River Road, Richmond
Terra Nova is a super unique, amazingly cool playground in Richmond. It was designed to connect people with nature and was built with sustainable materials sourced from British Columbia. But better than that — it’s really fun! Your kiddos will easily spend hours hopping back and forth between the two play zones. We love the giant slide and the zip lines!
