Festivals, Fairs, & Celebrations

It’s the 144th year of the Chilliwack Fair – the second oldest fair in BC. Come on down and join the community for a fun weekend of pie contests, 4H animal displays, great concerts, agricultural demos, magic shows, tractor pull, and a lot more fun!
Richmond Maritime Festival

Celebrate all things waterfront at the Britannia Shipyards. From wooden boats to model boats, water safety to sea creatures, local lore to fishing history, the festival invites visitors to explore a spectacular heritage site and enjoy music, games, interactive exhibits, roving performers, food and much more.
Abbotsford International Airshow

Fun City Festival, North Vancouver
Saturday, August 12th – Sunday, August 13th, North Vancouver
It’s a whole weekend of non-stop family fun! The City is hosting Fun City Festival, a two-day family-friendly community celebration happening on August 13 & 14, 2016. Slide the City and its popular 1,000 foot long water slide returns along with Car Free Day, turning Lower Lonsdale into a pedestrian and slider zone filled with vendors, food trucks, live music & entertainment. Enjoy local artisans, roving performers, giveaways and lots of outdoor patios and seating areas. Come ride the slide or just take in the sights and sounds.
Lakefront Car Show
Saturday, August 13th, 8 am – 4 pm, Harrison Hot Springs
Come out and enjoy a day strolling through cars from all eras, with the backdrop of the beautiful village and lake of Harrison Hot Springs. No entrance fee, no registration fee.
Steveston Dragon Boat Festival
Saturday, August 20th, between Britannia Shipyard and Imperial Landing, Steveston, Richmond
Find a good spot on Steveston boardwalk, and watch the teams paddle their dragon boats on the river. Enjoy live music from the World Beat Stage, visit kids’ tent for crafts and other activities, and enjoy fresh air on the shore. There will be a marketplace and food vendors as well.
The Fair at the PNE

Come celebrate at BC’s legendary Fair at the PNE! With hundreds of NEW performances and exhibits and more than 50 thrilling rides & attractions, and all that food, this year’s fresh new Fair at the PNE is definitely the best part of summer!
BC Renaissance Festival
Saturday, August 27th – Sunday, August 28th, Albion Fairgrounds, Maple Ridge
Come out to a world of fantasy, myth, and history. Join us as King Stephan McAlpin, his Queen Annan and his daughter, Princess Star Aurora attend to celebrate Star’s 16 birthday. Head back in time at this fun festival, a great chance to see jousting and other amazing renaissance activities.
Deep Cove Daze
Sunday, August 28th, 11:45 am – 7 pm, Panorama Park, 2300 Panorama Drive, North Vancouver
The Deep Cove Daze festival takes place on August 28th at Panorama Park from 12pm to 7pm. The festival kicks off at 11:45am with the big band and the children’s parade and the official opening ceremonies start at noon. Deep Cove Daze includes food trucks, a BBQ, a pie-eating contest, a cardboard kayak race, children’s entertainment, local artisans, music and a beer garden featuring craft beer from Deep Cove Brewers and Distillers.

Bard on the Beach
Friday, June 3rd – September 24th, 201-162 West 1st Avenue, Vancouver
Celebrating its 27th Season in 2016, Bard on the Beach is Western Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festival. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the Festival offers Shakespeare plays, related dramas, and several special events in two performance tents from June through September. The shows being performed this year includes: The Merry Wives of Windsor, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and Pericles. There are also various special events throughout the season and several special family nights!
Theatre Under the Stars

Each year TUTS produces two different musical shows that alternate performance nights throughout the summer. This years’ summer line-up includes Beauty and the Beast and West Side Story. So whether you want to tap your feet to the musical styling of Mrs. Potts and Lumiere or fall in love with Tony and Maria, TUTS is the perfect way to get your kiddos hooked on theatre. Musical Nooners in Vancouver

The sounds of summer are back for a 7th year! These free concerts run Monday to Friday from 12 pm – 1 pm on the CBC Outdoor Stage. And new this year, there will be special theme days with extra prizes, VIP seating and activities for the audience.
Trout Lake Summer Concert Series

Bring the family on Wednesday evenings for FREE live music at Trout Lake Community Centre outdoor performance area (east side of building). Shipyards Summer Sessions Concerts in North Vancouver
Saturdays, 7 pm – 10 pm, Shipbuilders’ Square, North Vancouver
The Summer Sessions Concerts, take place every Saturday evening (7pm to 10pm) in July and August in Shipbuilders’ Square at the foot of Lonsdale. Summer Sessions will feature free evening concerts, artisan vendors, food trucks and a beer garden for those 19 and over. Each week features an exciting headline act with a diverse mix of performers and musicians throughout the summer. Bring the family, bring a chair and come and have fun, as you dance under the stars through the long summer nights. There will be weekly prizes for the best dancers, so dust off your dancing shoes.

KitsFest is a sports and healthy living community festival celebrating diversity and inclusiveness for all ages and walks of life at every event. This contagious positive spirit helps to build stronger community environments and gives back to the community through legacies like, park facility upgrades and special events. Beyond the fun sporting events, Kitsilano Community Centre is excited to offer family-friendly activities throughout KitsFest! Kids activities will be located at the grassy area between the Kits beach / Rick Hansen Playground and the Basketball courts.
Summer Farmers’ Markets are in full swing and bursting at the seams with fresh produce. If the summer heat gets too hot to handle, cool off by jumping in an outdoor public swimming pool, splashing around at a water spray park, or heading to a great family-friendly beach.
