Here comes the weekend! Now that the kiddos are back in school, it’s time to get out of the house and make the most of the weekend. Enjoy an apple festival, Kerrisdale Days, and the annual Wesbrook Village festival. There’s a massive used kids’ sporting equipment sale, a tree festival, and a salmon festival too. Spend a day at the Westham Island Herb Farm, or light up a lantern and celebrate the end of summer.

Kerrisdale Days
Friday, September 8th – Saturday, September 9th, Kerrisdale Village, Vancouver
Celebrate Kerrisdale’s birthday. Sign up to compete in the popular Kerrisdale Idol contest. Free birthday cake and events for the entire family, music, clowns, face painting, rides and amazing sidewalk sales. Most events are happening on Saturday, but on Friday night, bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a wonderful outdoor family movie at Elm Park!

Applebarn Apple Festival
Saturday, September 9th – Sunday, September 10th, 9 am – 5:30 pm, Taves Family Farms, 333 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford
Head out to the Applebarn for a whole bunch of appley goodness! From 12 pm to 2:30 pm, watch Magician Gary Savarrd entertain the crowds. There will be complimentary cider and apple samples and, in honour of Grandma Alice Taves who recently passed away, the Taves Family is sharing her favourite all weekend– Apple Cake!

KidSport Massive Used Equipment Sale
Saturday, September 9th, 10 am – 1 pm, Poirier Forum, 618 Poirier St., Coquitlam
Open to everyone! If you or your family is into sports, this awesome event will save you money! A huge variety of High Quality used sporting goods at incredible prices. Everything from bikes and hockey gear to fitness equipment and wetsuits and everything in between. You can outfit a child for hockey (including skates and a helmet) for $100. Plus, there’s no tax. Cash and Credit Cards accepted. All proceeds go to subsidize registration fees for kids from lower income families. Save a ton of $$$ and help your community at the same time. More than 1,500 people attended last year…YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS SALE! Admission by donation or non-perishable item(s) for the food bank.

Family Fun Day

Pack a picnic and join us for an afternoon of FREE family fun at Douglas Park. There will be music, crafts, lawn games, face painting, balloon twisting, bouncy fun, a live show by Kite Zone and more!

Day at the Farm
Saturday, September 9th, 10 am – 4 pm, Westham Island Herb Farm, 4690 Kirkland Road, Delta
Bring the whole family out for a “Day at the Farm!” This unique agricultural fair, nestled in the heart of scenic Westham Island, Delta is situated on a REAL working farm. The 2017 event boasts tons of fun activities for people of all ages. Learn how to milk a cow, see a live auction with a farm auctioneer, dig your own potatoes at the BC Fresh Potato Dig, take a hay wagon farm tour with local farmers to learn how crops are grown in BC, sample farm-fresh fare prepared by BC Agriculture in the Classroom student chefs and much more!Don’t forget to bring a non-perishable donation for the Food Bank!

7th Annual Wesbrook Village Festival
Saturday, September 9th, 11 am – 4 pm, Wesbrook Village, 3378 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, Cost: Free
The bustling boulevards of Wesbrook Village will be alive with family-friendly activities during the community’s seventh annual community festival on Saturday, September 9. This special event promises fun for all ages: young families, students, and adults alike. Kids musician and star of the TV series Will’s Jams on CBC Kids Will Stroet, Vancouver’s favourite Dance Band (celebrating over 20 years of spreading the joy) Dr. Strangelove, and vintage vocal trio the Beauty Shop Dolls will take to the main stage with tunes and entertainment that will appeal to all. For the young at heart, the Wesbrook Village Festival also features a kids zone, complete with face-painting fun, craft tables, bouncy castles and a swing ride.

Luminary Festival
Saturday, September 9th, 6 pm – 10 pm, Suntone Park, 10400 Delsom Crescent, Delta
It’s a special, sparkling end-of-summer festival. Illuminate yourself with costume and lights, and create a lantern to light the way! This year, in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, you are invited to wear red + white and light up the night! Illuminate yourself with a red + white costume and lantern for a chance to win prizes. No on-site parking. A shuttle will run from North Delta Recreation Centre starting at 6 pm. For rainy day plans, check back at Delta.ca.

24th Annual Treefest
Sunday, September 10th, 11 am – 4 pm, Riverview Hospital Grounds, 2601 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam
Enjoy this annual celebration of trees! Access the site via Lougheed Highway from either the Orchid Drive entrance or Colony Farm Rd/Holly Drive entrance. Once you enter the grounds, follow the festival signs and arrows to the Parking areas. There is plenty of free on-site parking and parking attendants will help you find a spot. RAIN or SHINE A fun-filled day for the whole Family FREE EVENT. Be sure to visit the INFO table by the Event Trailer for all information during the event.

Cops, Kids, and Commercial Drive
Sunday, September 10th, 12 pm – 3 pm, Commercial Drive, 1726 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
A Fun Back-to-school Safety Event For Families. Free Activities including hot dog lunch for all attending children. Live music from the Drive Street Band. ICBC’s Bike Roadeo & Distracted Walking Course. Mini POPAT fitness course. Face painting and more! Coho Festival
Sunday, September 10th, 11 am – 6 pm, Ambleside Park, 1150 Marine Dr, West Vancouver
The Coho Festival features a famous Coho salmon barbecue, the Coho Garden, stewardship zone, kids park, main stage and the Squamish Nation Village. The day starts with a Coho Run, Coho Swim, pancake breakfast and much more. The Coho Kids Park is filled with fun activities for children of all ages. The theme is centred around education, art & culture and outdoor activities. The Squamish Nation will again be participating in the festival welcoming all to Swá?wi (Ambleside Park). The Squamish Nation Village display unique traditions and cultures including their interconnections and relationship to the salmon. There are also weaver and carver artisans on hand to demonstrate their craft.
