Here comes the weekend and a ton of great family-friendly activities! The festival season has officially started in Metro Vancouver. This weekend, check out Italian Day on the Drive, Sapperton Day, and the Coquitlam Grande Parade and Teddy Bear Picnic, to name just a few. Enjoy fun family activities at Cultus Lake, Champlain Heights, and Douglas Park. There’s a brand new park opening in Surrey and an awesome VSO concert for tiny tots. VSO Tiny Tots: Let’s Have a Playdate
Friday, June 9th, 10 am – 12:15 pm, Vancouver Playhouse, 600 Hamilton Street, Vancouver

Explore fast and slow music on three playdates: at a friend’s house, at the park, and at a concert.Play hide and seek, bounce the ball and other favourite games set to the music of Johannes Brahms. Accompanied by a woodwind quartet. Tiny Tots is a 4-concert series for the little ones, from toddlers to four or five years of age, held in the intimate performance space of the Playhouse in downtown Vancouver and the Anvil Centre in New Westminster. This series features professional music educators and musicians, Let Your Music Shine! with Lisa & Linda, in their own musical presentations for kids.
CULTUS LAKE DAYS 2017

Sapperton Day Street Festival
Sunday, June 11th, 10 am – 5 pm, 400 Block East Columbia Street, New Westminster
Come celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday! There will be live street performers, musical groups, bouncy castles, clowns, games, mini donuts, pancake breakfast, rock climbing wall, marketplace vendors, and much, much, more. Also, make sure to check out the new Snapchat filter the day of the event! All proceeds raised on the day of the event will be donated to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation to raise funds for critically needed equipment, research, and innovation and to ensure the best medical standards for the future.
Regional Recycling Family Fun Event
Saturday, June 10th, 11 am – 3 pm, Regional Recycling Richmond, 13300 Vulcan Way, Richmond
Regional Recycling Richmond is hosting a FREE FAMILY FUN EVENT! Great for the whole family. Bring your kids down to play in the bouncy castle, do art’s and crafts, get their face painted and more! There will be free food and mingling with your community. Bring your recycling to get entered into the win a bike contest and a ticket to get a FREE hotdog and drink. Summer Fair at Champlain Heights

Grand Opening: Oak Meadows Park

Coquitlam’s Grand Parade and Teddy Bear Picnic & Concert

Teddy Bear Parade (9:45 am – 11 am) – Bring your teddy bears to watch as the parade marches up to the Teddy Bear Picnic at Town Centre Park! Teddy Bear Picnic – Fun for all young children – featuring storytelling, puppet shows, rovers, gymnastics and more from 11 am – 4 pm. Teddy Bear Family Concert – This promises to be a fun evening of music for children of all ages, on Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 3 pm – 5:30 pm.
Gnome’s Sweet Home

Join the Richmond Nature Park for this new whimsical family event. Solve mysteries with Sherlock Gnomes, follow the story of Gnomeo and Juliet, and build a take-home gnome home at the Gnome Depot.
Italian Day on the Drive
Sunday, June 11th, 12 pm – 8 pm, Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Italian Day on The Drive is a vibrant cultural street festival celebrating Italian culture, heritage and respective immigrant contributions in Vancouver. Commercial Drive, also known as The Drive, is home to the annual festival which transforms the street into a lively 14 block, vehicle free, celebration and community fest. Since Italian Day’s return in 2010, the event has grown significantly. Italian Day on The Drive represents the largest one-day cultural street festival in the city – and perhaps in Canada – drawing over 350,000 enthusiastic attendees of all cultures and ages. It is a multi-cultural and community embrace under the Italian Day umbrella offering over 200 street participants comprised of: sponsors, merchants, retail booths, food vendors and restaurant patios, as well as stages with live music and theatre, street performers, classic cars, activities and displays, children’s amusement zones and more.
