Summer is now in full swing and there are a ton of great outdoor family-friendly events and activities happening around Metro Vancouver this weekend! Watch an outdoor movie, or two, take a bicycle tour around the farms of Agassiz, or recycle small appliances at Trout Lake. Learn about creatures of the not-so-deep, sniff some lavender, or rock out at Surrey’s Fusion Festival. There are markets, summer festivals, and tons of other awesome events, so get out of the house and have a great time with your family!

Surrey: Shops at Morgan Crossing presents Minions
Friday, July 21st, 9 pm, The Shops at Morgan Crossing, 15765 Croydon Drive, Surrey
EXCITING NEWS! The Shops at Morgan Crossing will be hosting awesome outdoor movies this summer! Complimentary outdoor movies will start at dusk (around 9 pm) and the location is between building AB and E (Near Winners). Please bring your own blanket and be sure to come early enough to get seating.

Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour
Saturday, July 22nd, 9 am – 4 pm, Agassiz, Cost: Adults $10, Children 16 & under are free
The Agassiz Farms Cycle tour takes you through the heart of Agassiz farm country along picturesque country roads. This July 22nd celebrating its’ 11th year. Tourism Harrison, Prospera Credit Union and the farmers are excited to welcome you to another year exploring the countryside and meeting the local farmers. The Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour is a leisurely self-guided cycle tour around a 30 km flat route visiting farms and meeting farmers. Be sure to register in advance for this awesome family-friendly event.

RecycleFest at Trout Lake Park
Saturday, July 22nd, 10 am – 3 pm, Trout Lake Community Centre, 3350 Victoria Drive, Vancouver
Visit Trout Lake for a day of family fun, with free food, games, prizes, and recycling! Plus a toonie BBQ lunch to support the Trout Lake Youth Group. Vegetarian and Vegan options available! Creatures of the Not-So-Deep
Saturday, July 22nd, 10:30 am – 2:30 pm, Belcarra Regional Park, Belcarra
Who doesn’t love lying on the beach on a warm sunny day? Creatures of the not-so-deep, that’s who! Come face to face with sea stars, barnacles, crabs and more. Catch, observe and release beach creatures from a seine net. Be prepared to get muddy. Meet at Belcarra Picnic Area, drop by anytime. Free for all ages!

Lavender Open House
Saturday, July 22nd, 10 am – 4 pm, Tuscan Farm Gardens, 6834 Mt. Lehman Road, Abbotsford
The gardens are in bloom, and the new owners of Tuscan Farm Gardens invite you to enjoy them. Stock up on all-natural soap and lavender products and enjoy treats in the shop. Free admission to the gardens!

Surrey Fusion Festival

ArtStarts Explores: Canada
Saturday, July 22nd, 11 am – 12 pm, ArtStarts Gallery, 808 Richards Street, Vancouver
ArtStarts Explores is a hands-on drop-in workshop series for creative and adventurous families held from 11 am to 12 pm every Saturday (except the last Saturday of each month, when we present ArtStarts on Saturdays events). Explore creativity with your family through hands-on investigations and discover a wide variety of materials and artistic mediums. These process-based explorations invite families to experiment together through observing, touching, drawing, moving, assembling and listening to ignite their creative learning. Ages 12 and under. Free! Donations welcome.

Cinema Under the Stars – Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Saturday, July 22nd, 6:30 pm – 10 pm, Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery, 6179 248 St, Langley
Join us for ‘a movie under the stars on the giant screen in the new Fresh Family Fun field. The movie is included for free with your admission to the field where kids and parents can play together. Enjoy giant jumping pillows, tractor peddle races, games, volleyball and more. $5.00 for children, $2.50 for adults, $12.00 for a family of 4. Gates open at 6 pm allowing lots of play time before the movie begins when the skies get dark. It is summer, so be prepared for a late start (perhaps 9:15 pm) Please do not bring outside food or beverages – the farm is open and has delicious options for everyone including popcorn and drinks. We suggest lawn chairs and warm blankets.

Royal City Show & Shine
Sunday, July 23rd, 11 am – 5 pm, Justice Institute of BC, 715 McBride Blvd., New Westminster
We are excited to announce the return of this loved car show. For 15 years this was an iconic day in New Westminster and we are honored to work with the title sponsor Key West Ford and producing partner Savi Integrated Marketing (SIM), to keep this popular event going!
