It’s another busy holiday weekend with lots of awesome family-friendly activities to take part in! You and your kiddos can take in a movie, or create a work of art with earth paint. There are storytimes and a whole bunch of fun ways to ring in the New Year. We’ve extended our weekend events guide to include fun activities on Monday, January 1st – go for an icy plunge at a Polar Bear or Penguin swim or go for the warmer route and head to an indoor pool near you for a festive New Year’s Day swim. There’s family skates and a walk around the Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack. We’ve highlighted a few events here, but make sure you check out our interactive event listings guide for even more great fun stuff to do. Happy Noon Year Family Storytime

Polar Bear Swim Vancouver
Monday, January 1st, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm, English Bay, Vancouver
The Vancouver Polar Bear Swim Club is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. Its initial swim was in 1920 when a small number of hardy swimmers took the plunge into English Bay on New Year’s Day. Led by their founder, Peter Pantages, the swim has grown from around 10 swimmers in that year to the new record of 2,550 official entries set in 2014.

New Year’s Walk

Let’s start 2018 with a commitment to spend more time outside in nature! Join like-minded friends & family for a guided walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve. Meet at 1 pm at the entrance to the Rotary Interpretive Centre. We’re sure to see plenty of waterfowl and maybe some other creatures! Dress for the weather. Hot chocolate to follow.
