new westminster Tips

daytripping: new westminster

We try as much as possible to keep our adventures close to home. Although it seems appealing to hop aboard a cruise ship with the kiddos and sail away, our wallets think otherwise. So we are keeping our trips to something we can get to in under a few hours and with way less impact on our wallets.

Today we hit… NEW WESTMINSTER!

River Market is the perfect ‘something for everyone’ stop in New Westminster. Conveniently located right on the river for beautiful walks and skips, and just a hop from the New Westminster Skytrain Station, everyone in your family is sure to be delighted with a stop here. Take in a drop in class at Vancouver Circus School on a Saturday, grab a kid’s cooking set from Canteen and Supply, craft it up at Craft Café, and stock your pantry with delicious treats at Donald’s Market. The food hall vendors and restaurants offer a wide range of delectable eats sure to please every palate in your posse. A great place to start or finish your New West adventure. More details at

1319 Third Avenue, New Westminster
We recognize that sometimes parents need a bit of a break just for them. Luckily, Steel and Oak has lemonade on tap, loads of games for kids to play, and snacks that will delight even the pickiest of kiddos (did someone say mason jars filled with cheezies?). The owners of this fantastic local brewery are dads themselves, so they get how to keep kiddos and parents alike happy. Grab a growler, set for a pint, play a killer game of Connect Four, and enjoy one of the best craft breweries in the Lower Mainland. More details at
