What’s summer without a soundtrack or that catchy song that has you be-bopping? We get twitchy if it’s too quiet so we’ve gone ahead and incorporated all the great music lists we’ve ran in the past to create yoyo radio on blip.fm.
summer transition time

Summer is a great time to tackle potty training because your kids are wearing fewer clothes – heck they can even go bare when and if it’s appropriate – and would you rather unbutton, unsnap and unzip a snowsuit or pull down a pair of shorts? As with all kiddie transitions, potty training goes more smoothly for all concerned if you’re prepared, and training pants are a great way to start the switch from diapers to undies.

Summer’s synonymous with family road trips and the familiar question, “Are we there yet?” Here are some fun ideas for keeping kids of all ages busy and comfortable.
party arty

When it comes to kidlet party planning mamas seem to have bought into the myth that they should be able to do it all – bake a Martha Stewart-worthy cake, plan perfect, age-appropriate party games and design on-theme goody bags. Picnics always seem like a good idea. We have visions of a beautifully packed wicker basket full of healthy summer food and lemonade enjoyed while lounging under a tree or on the grass. But the reality doesn’t seem to live up to our expectations. We spend heaps of time chopping and assembling everything together in random containers, dragging it all out and about with us, then eating meals, that quite possibly include sand as a condiment, on floppy paper plates.
we believe in magic

Our bathroom cabinet is full of lots of different jars, pots and tubes full of creams, balms and lotions for this, that and the other. So when we started using Mayan Magic Healing Balm we were surprised to find that this one little jar has a whole lot of uses.
putting the cool back in drool
Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | July 6, 2010
Babies…well…they drool. And when they are teething, they drool even more and sometimes that drool can be a bit harsh on their skin. So what do you do? Tiny baby chin guard? Wipe their face every three seconds? Snap on a perma bib? Why not try some Hazelwood?

You invest in reusable stainless steel containers, lend out your kids’ toys and rely on your cell more than you’d ever have thought possible. If you want make sure everything comes back where it belongs, why not label it? We’re particularly fond of the stylish labels from new Canadian company Emily Press.

As summer arrives there’s no shortage of family-friendly activities of which to partake. Think birthday parties, date nights, road trips and more. But all that activity requires military planning on your part, which is why we’ve turned to Lillipilli to help keep us on track and free up more time for fun.
