better baggies

Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | August 25, 2010

Once you’re settled on the perfect lunchbox then you need containers to hold all the delicious, organic, exotic goodies you put in it. Or goldfish crackers. We’re fans of stainless steel containers but they can be bulky and heavy, so we like to shake things up a little and mix and match stainless steel with reusable baggies.

you grow kid

It is that time of year where, if your green thumb efforts survived the rainy spring, you’re harvesting a thing or two from your own garden or at least enjoying the bounty at your local farmers markets. Which is why the release of Up We Grow – A Year in the Life of a Small, Local Farm is so timely.

the lunch bunch

Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | August 23, 2010

With fall (and school) fast approaching we’re focusing on the always challenging topic of lunch – as in what to put it in and what to put in it – this week. And we’re starting with a trio of soft, fun lunch bags.

smooth as a baby’s…

For mums it can be hard enough to find time to shower, let alone perform those showery sort of ablutions like shaving your legs (if that’s your thing). And during the summer it can feel more than a little obvious if you’ve forgotten, which is why we were intrigued to get our hands on eos ultra moisturizing shave cream, which can be used to shave either wet or dry.

the kinks

Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | July 23, 2010

Ever since we’ve had kids we’ve gotten a lot kinkier. We have persistent aches and pains in our necks and backs and we’re much stiffer in the mornings than we used to be. Sure some of that is due to age, but we suspect that all the carrying, bending, pushing and being hung on, tugged at and jumped on that parenting brings may be in large part to blame. So we decided to treat ourselves to some t spheres based on the logic that if we’re healthier, happier and more flexible our kids will be too.

summer transition time

Filed Under Going Green, Stuff, Tips & Tricks | July 16, 2010

Summer is a great time to tackle potty training because your kids are wearing fewer clothes – heck they can even go bare when and if it’s appropriate – and would you rather unbutton, unsnap and unzip a snowsuit or pull down a pair of shorts? As with all kiddie transitions, potty training goes more smoothly for all concerned if you’re prepared, and training pants are a great way to start the switch from diapers to undies.

to market

Filed Under Going Green, Places | July 13, 2010

One of the best things about summer is the abundance of fresh and local food that’s available. Farmers’ markets abound in Toronto from May to October, making it easy to eat green and clean regardless of where you live in the city. A trip to a local market is also a perfect way to educate your kids about food – where it comes from, how it’s grown, and why that matters. So whether you’re looking for organic spinach, fresh raspberries, farm-raised meat, or free-range eggs, the city’s Farmers’ markets have you covered.
