This summer break head to where history comes to life – Burnaby Village Museum, where your kids will play heritage games and get back to the basics of summer fun. Each specially themed week is aimed at a specific age group. Camps operate Monday – Friday (except statutory holidays), 9 am – 3 pm.
We love that camps each week have different themes. This means that you can focus on something your kiddo really loves, or, if they are going to attend multiple weeks of camp, they get to try something new the next time around.
Some of this year’s camp themes include –
Outdoor Escapes: for 6 – 9-year-olds, this camp is all about fun and adventure. Put down the electronics and get back to the basics of summer. Campers will spend the week making and flying kites, riding the carousel, playing heritage games, having a watermelon eating contest, learning how to make ice cream and celebrating the fun and freedom of summer.
Food Capers: for 6 – 9-year-olds, this camp gives kids the opportunity to play with their food. They will create their own cookbook, make bread from scratch, bake cookies, and make food-themed crafts.
Apprentice Week: for 8 – 12-year-olds, this camp kids will learn all about working as a blacksmith, a barber, a shop owner, and a printer.
Vintage Gals: for 8 – 12-year-olds, this camp focuses on life as a 1920s girl. Kids will make handcrafts, bake cookies, dress up in old-fashioned clothes, learn to dance the Charleston, and even spend the morning in a one-room schoolhouse!
Plus there are nature camps, toy adventure camps, science camps, and cultural camps too!
Burnaby Village Museum also offers an After Camp Club, which extends the camp day to 5:00 pm. This allows parents a little extra time to pick up kids and gives kids a chance to unwind with relaxed activities and games, all fully supervised by camp staff.
The benefits of membership: Museum members receive 10% off all registered programs including Summer Camps. Annual memberships are only $33 per person and include unlimited carousel rides, free admission to Haunted Village, plus invites to member-only events.
