review: cirque du soleil kurios – cabinet of curiosities

You’ll meet the Seeker, who is convinced that there is a hidden, invisible world where the craziest ideas and grandest dreams are waiting. Follow the Seeker as he dives into his larger than life curio cabinet to discover a collection of otherworldly characters and a place where curiosities and imaginations are ignited.

If you have had the joy of experiencing a Cirque du Soleil performance for yourself, you know it’s not easy to put into words what you see before your eyes. Cabinet of Curiosities is no different — we spent half the show with our mouths wide open, gasping at the acrobatic feats unfolding before our eyes.

While the entire show was a site to behold, we did have a favourite act — the Upside Down World was simply unbelievable. It’s a chair-balancing act taken to another level. As a performer on the ground skillfully stacks chair upon chair, climbing and balancing ever higher, his mirror image is suspended from the ceiling stacking his own chairs, as if gravity didn’t exist!

If you love risqué, gasp-inducing performances, you will love the Baquine and Acro Net acts. The thrilling acrobatics and death-defying feats are a site to behold! The perfectly synchronized movements of 13 performers crisscrossing through the air in Baquine are beautiful. And we couldn’t believe how high up performers were able to bounce on the Acro Net. They nearly touched the top of the big top!
