Green Screen Halloween Pictures

Calling all goblins, ghoulies and any Halloween costume creation, to come enhance your costume with the Library’s Green Screen! Add a spooky background, some fantastic effects and we’ll email your picture to you! Warning- don’t wear too much green- or you’ll be invisible on the Green Screen- unless you dress up as a ghost!

Heritage Halloween

You’re invited to Mackin House for a ghoulishly good time. Make your own witch or wizard broom from corn husks, enjoy baked goods, hot apple cider and then grab a bag of popcorn to enjoy a marionette show by Beth Agosti titled A Play on Words. Ghouls, goblins, witches, and monsters of all sizes are welcome!

Family Day at PdA! With Mr. I’s Slightly Spooky Songs and Stories

Do you have a Halloween costume you no longer need and want to donate? Are you looking for a Halloween costume but don’t want to spend a lot? Come to a Halloween Costume Swap at the library! Donated costumes in good, clean condition can be dropped off at the George Mackie Library between October 14 – October 20. If you want to swap a costume, bring it with you on the 21st and find something new to you.

Kilby’s Halloween Party
Sunday, October 29th, 11 am – 4 pm, Kilby National Historic Site, 215 Kilby Road, Harrison Mills
Something wicked this way comes… the Kilby Kids Halloween Party! Dress up to win prizes in our costume contest, join our spooky scavenger hunt, play Halloween themed games and crafts. Enjoy a special treat with an amazing magic show and the creation of wonderful balloon animals with Living Magic! A delight for all ages! The event begins at 11 am. Throughout the day we will have crafts and games!  The farm will also be open for kids to enjoy our friendly farm animals. And we will have an interactive scavenger hunt to find your treat!


Halloween Makeup Practice

Halloween makeup can be difficult to master. Come to the library to practice and perfect your technique by watching YouTube clips and practicing on your friends. The library will provide makeup. Afterwards, take a picture with your newly done up face using Green Screen technology.

Halloween Day Crafternoon

Join us for a fun and creative and spooky upcycling workshop to celebrate Halloween! It’s free and open to all ages. We’re bringing in local upcycler extraordinaire Denise Corcoran  to share fun projects made using repurposed materials.

Norman Foote’s Halloween Howl at Centennial Theatre
Tuesday, October 24th, 7 pm, Centennial Theatre, 2300 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
Norman Foote shares the stage with the Very Scary Big Voice Orchestra – singers from North Vancouver schools in full costume. Music, costumes and the Halloween theme all come together in this engaging concert. This family-friendly show is interactive and often hilarious and will include songs from Norman’s newest CD Always Be Yourself, which has some great melodies and positive messages for kids. Norman encourages young people to believe in themselves and celebrate their unique voices. It makes for a unique and fun concert for audience and performers alike!

Follow a trail of jack-o’-lanterns to discover what goes bump in the night. Meet the twilight creatures that make Halloween fun and a little bit scary! Kid Friendly Ghostly Vancouver Tours update_pumpkin

Ghostly Vancouver Tours has taken their Ghostly Gastown Tour and made it kid friendly! 2 nights only, October 20 and 27 at 6pm. Join us for a 1 hour haunted walk through Gastown. You will hear all about Vancouver’s early days as well as it’s many hauntings, including mischievous Looky-Lou, a ghostly police constable, a headless railway worker and many more! All children must be accompanied by an adult. Kids 7+ welcome. Tickets $10 for kids, $15 for adults.

Pint-Sized Pumpkin Carving
Saturday, October 21st, 10 am – 12 pm, Coal Harbour Community Centre, 480 Broughton Street, Vancouver
We are hosting our 9th annual Pint-Sized Pumpkin Carving event! Get into the spooky spirit as you carve your own jack-o-lantern. We will supply some carving tools and ghoulish music and don’t forget to wear your costume. Parent participation is required. Please pre-register so we can ensure we have enough pumpkins. ($5/pumpkin, $7/pumpkin on the day-of event, space permitting).

Pumpkin Carving in Kerrisdale
Tuesday, October 24th, 5:30 pm – 7 pm, Kerrisdale Community Centre, 5851 West Boulevard, Vancouver, Cost: $6
Join families for a night of pumpkin carving! Pumpkins, some utensils will be supplied and refreshments will be served. Arrive early for a short demonstration at the beginning. Two pumpkins are provided per family. Each family member must register and each person pay $6. Membership is required.

Pumpkin Carving at Roundhouse
Sunday, October 28th, 1 pm – 4 pm, Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver
Carve a pumpkin to get into the Halloween spirit! Get your creative juices flowing and transform your pumpkin into a fun or scary jack-o’-lantern. We’ll provide the spooky music, and some carving tools and stencils too. Please register by Fri Oct 13 to reserve your pumpkin and space. Caregiver participation is required.
