review: dyson pure hot+cool link air purifier

In the sweltering heat of the summer, when pollen counts are high and allergies are awful (there’s nothing worse than sweating AND sneezing all day), we were very excited to join the #PurifierChallege with Dyson and take their Pure Hot+Cool Link air purifier for a thorough test drive.

Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link Air Purifier

Considering that each day we take 20,000 breaths and that indoor air pollution can be up to five times worse than outside, it was high time we introduced an air purifier to our home. The Pure Hot+Cool Link air purifier intelligently purifies, heats, and cools you. It purifies to remove 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns from your home.

Over the last month we’ve put the Dyson air purifier through the and so far we have loved it. The cooling feature has been a blessing during the heat spells and our seasonal allergies are a little less bothersome when the machine is running.

This air purifier is high tech. Through the Dyson App, you can monitor air quality and remotely control temperature, airflow speed, sleep timer, oscillation and other settings. When we first started up our Hot+Cool Link, the air quality in our home was noted as FAIR. After a few hours of running the machine, we are now up to GOOD air quality(the highest level) and have maintained that level with daily use.

We love the look of the air purifier. The dark grey we received fits nicely in with our décor and it is not huge and clunky like our A/C unit. We can move it from room to room easily – which has been great as we work from home and have a tendency to change locations throughout the day. So the machine started the day in the office, then to the kitchen table and then to the family room when we plunked down for a work and TV session.

While it appears that the air purification benefits are for the entire room, we’d say the cooling features of the unit should be considered personal. It doesn’t have the power of a portable air conditioning unit to cool down an entire room, but is lovely and cooling when you are in close proximity. This is handy in a home office or bedroom. We suspect the heating aspect is going to be the same, though we haven’t had a chance to take that feature for a spin yet.

Our favourite features of the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link:

  • The Dyson 360 Glass HEPA filter removes 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen and allergens, bacteria, dust and mould spores, pet dander and potentially harmful ultrafine particles, trapping them in the filter and eliminating them from the air you breathe.
  • It purifies, heats and cools you: heats in winter, cools in summer and intelligently purifies the air year round. This unit is more of a personal cooling and heating device — it won’t necessarily cool off or heat up an entire room, but it’s lovely when you are in close proximity! We particularly like it in our home office and bedroom.
  • The Dyson Hot+Cool Link automatically monitors, reacts and purifies and sends the reports of your home’s air quality straight to the Dyson Link App so you can remotely control your home environment.

Dyson is encouraging all Canadians to take the #PurifierChallenge for themselves. Dyson is offering a free filter replacement (valued at $99.99) when you purchase a Dyson Air Purifier before July 28th! Share your thoughts and experiences with your Dyson machine on
