big night (and day) events

Wondering what to do on the big night? Businesses and community centres are taking part in the Halloween fun with treats for little costumed visitors, and we’ve got these fun events listed below. We’ve also got loads of fun Halloween events listed all month long from pumpkin patches to scary trains and haunted houses to parties, swims and skates. For the latest ghoulish and spooktacular events, visit our Halloween Hub.

Halloween at Lonsdale Quay
Friday, October 31st, 11:30 am – 5 pm, Londsdale Quay Public Market, 123 Carrie Cates Court, North Vancouver
Come over for a Halloween story, and stay for a day of fun. There will be face painting, crafts, pumpkin decorating, and trick-or-treating. End the day with a slightly spooky Halloween movie:

Friday, October 31st, 3 pm – 4 pm, Capilano Mall, 935 Marine Drive, North Vancouver
Come in your costume, and trick-or-treat your way through the mall. Look for posters in participating store windows. This event is perfect for toddlers!

Friday, October 31st, 3:30 pm – 5 pm, West Vancouver Community Centre, 2121 Marine Drive, West Vancouver
Once upon a time, even fairytale characters celebrated Halloween! Come and join them in their trick-or-treating, and have fun with inflatables and other fun activities:

Halloween in Yaletown
Friday, October 31st, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, various locations around Yaletown, Vancouver
Walk the streets, and look for spider posters in the windows marking the participating businesses giving out candy – but only if you’re in costume!

Trick-or-Treat at Park Royal
Friday, October 31st, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Park Royal, Taylor Way & Marine Drive, West Vancouver
Stay dry at Park Royal, and collect your Halloween treats from participating stores. Costumes required:

Wesbrook Village Halloween
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 6 pm, Wesbrook Village, UBC, Vancouver, Cost: free
Trick-or-treat your way through the village, picking up treats from participating merchants. Be sure to wear a costume! Check the website for info about a colouring contest and other activities:

Halloween Party at The Old Barn
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 6 pm, The Old Barn Community Centre, 6308 Thunderbird Boulevard, UBC, Vancouver, Cost: free
Come over for a fun afternoon of spooky crafts and games before you head out for trick-or-treating. Don’t forget your costume!

Friday, October 31st, 4:30 pm – 6 pm, Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Walk down the Drive and look for Halloween posters on store windows. Whenever you see one, pop in for some treats! Come back to Grandview Park for fireworks at 7:30 pm. Check the website for a special meal deal for the kiddos:

Halloween Carnival at the Roundhouse
Friday, October 31st, 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Roundhouse Community Centre, 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver, Cost: $6
Come in your Halloween finest, and have fun with games, crafts and other spooky activities. Explore Creepy Hollow for some hair-rising fun. For ages up to 10 with an adult; please pre-register:

Bibbity Bobbity Boo & Trick or Treat Trek
Friday, October 31st, 5 pm – 7 pm, Creekside Recreation Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Vancouver, Cost: $3
You’ll have a great time at the rec centre, with a slightly scary haunted house, and many fun Halloween activities. You can also join a trek around the Olympic Village to trick-or-treat at participating businesses. For ages up to 7 with an adult; please pre-register:

Farther Afield

Spooky Scavenger Hunt
Friday, October 31st, 10:30 am – Noon, Surrey Museum, 17710 56A Avenue, Surrey, Cost: $10.75
Bring the littlest ones in the family over for a spooky (but just a little) scavenger hunt around the museum. Come in a costume, listen to stories of Halloweens past, play games and enjoy treats. For ages 3 – 5 with an adult; please pre-register:

Come to the International Departures level, and enjoy some spooky fun. Bring a pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest or participate in the costume contest. Take a photo in the photo booth for a memory, and enjoy Halloween treats:

Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Abbotsford
Friday, October 31st, 1 pm – 5 pm, Jubilee Arts Centre, 33660 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford
Wear your costume and comfortable walking shoes, and bring a big loot bag. Come early–the first 500 kids will get a special surprise! Pick up your map, and stroll around downtown visiting participating shops (parents, there are many nice coffee shops to choose from.) Once you’ve done your rounds, return to the starting point and cast your vote for the best decorated shop:

Trick-or-Treating at Aberdeen Centre
Friday, October 31st, 3 pm – 7 pm, Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way, Richmond
Walk around the mall, and visit participating stores for Halloween treats:

Halloween at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre
Friday, October 31st, 3 pm – 5 pm, Sevenoaks Shopping Centre, 32900 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford
Bring your little ghosties to collect their goodies from participating stores. No matter what the weather, it’s nice and warm inside the mall:

Trethewey Haunted House
Friday, October 31st, 3 pm – 8 pm, Trethewey House, 2313 Ware Street, Abbotsford, Cost: $4, or $10 per family
Is there anything spookier than an old house in the dark? Probably not, especially when the house has ghosts… Come by before dark, 3 pm – 5 pm, for a less scary tour, and stick around for the costume contest at 4 pm. For the older, braver folks, the haunted house will be extra spooky from 6 pm – 8 pm:

Moo or Boo!
Friday, October 31st, 3 pm – 8 pm, EcoDairy, 1356 Sumas Way, Abbotsford, Cost: kids 12 and under $3, adults free
Have fun at the farm on Halloween! Enjoy Mad Science shows, movies, games, hot chocolate and popcorn. Come in a costume, and see if you can win a prize in the costume contest. Visit a mask-making station to complete your Halloween look, then stop by the photo booth to get your picture taken!

Halloween at Tsawwassen Town Centre
Friday, October 31st, 3:30 pm – 5 pm, Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall, 1299 56th Street, Delta, Cost: free
Visit the mini pumpkin patch, and paint a little pumpkin. Trick-or-treat your way around the mall, dance to “Thriller,” and play cookie mini golf. Vote for your favourite designer pumpkin, make fun crafts, and discover many other fun activities at the mall:

Trick-or-treat at Lougheed Town Centre
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 5 pm, Lougheed Town Centre, 9855 Austin Road, Burnaby, Cost: free
Stay safe and dry this Halloween. Stop by the various stores around the mall for treats. Visit the photo booth near London Drugs for a lasting memory of your Halloween. For ages 12 and under:

Trick-or-Treat at Brentwood Town Centre
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 5 pm, Brentwood Town Centre, 4567 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby, Cost: free
Whatever the weather outside, it’s warm and dry inside the mall. Spooky music will play in the background while participating shops hand out treats to little ghouls and goblins (as well as princesses and superheroes). Be sure to check out the interactive pumpkin patch at the Centre Court:

Halloween on the Heights
Friday, October 31st, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm, Burnaby Heights, Hastings Street between Boundary Road and Gamma Avenue & 6 pm – 9 pm, Burnaby Central Railway, Confederation Park, 250 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby
Join the annual tradition of trick-or-treating at Burnaby Heights! Visit participating merchants for cookies, candy and other treats, then head over to Confederation Park to catch a ride on the Halloween Train:

Trick-or-treat at Maan Farms
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 7 pm, Maan Farms, 790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford, Cost: free
Skip the dark streets, and have fun on the farm instead! Bring your bags and baskets and collect treats from various stations around the farm:

Trick-or-treat in Central City
Friday, October 31st, 4 pm – 7 pm, Central City Shopping Centre, 10153 King George Boulevard, Surrey
Dress up, bring a loot bag, and visit customer service and participating stores for treats. The centre is encouraging a healthy Halloween this year with fewer sugary treats:

Halloween Trick or Treat Parade
Friday, October 31st, 5 pm – 6 pm, Willowbrook Shopping Centre, 19705 Fraser Highway, Langley, Cost: $2
Join a fun costume parade under cover where the weather doesn’t matter. Trick-or-treat your way through the mall. Come early to register; see details on the website:

The Pirate House
Friday, October 31st, 5 pm – 8 pm, 5970 Portland Street, Burnaby
An ordinary house for the rest of the year, this bungalow transforms itself into a pirate island for the night! Come and visit Boozabuzza Island where pirates have been hiding treasures. This event is a fundraiser for St. Stephen Children’s Centre in Uganda:

Halloween Street
Friday, October 31st, 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm, South Arm Community Centre, 8880 Williams Road, Richmond, Cost: by donation
Collect your treats in the warmth of the community centre. Visit the witch’s den for spooky crafts, and walk into the darkness for some screams … if you dare (recommended for ages 8 and up). There’s a not-very-scary room with a bouncy castle and other activities for the youngest ones as well. Step outside for the fireworks at around 9:15 pm:
