Welcome to yoyomama’s weekend guide! Your go-to list of family friendly fun things to do with kids in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. It’s also easy to get these event listings in our handy new app, OnTheGoKids, which takes our weekend guide and makes it mobile!
The summer is officially here, and it’s time to celebrate! Join the Scandinavian Midsummer Fest to meet some Vikings; the Highland Games for some bagpipes and kilts; Strawberry Festival for some strawberry shortcake; or Point Grey Fiesta, Pirates Fair, Queensborough Children’s Festival, or one of the many other community and family festivals for good old carnival fun. Families can also come by False Creek to see dragon boats, enjoy jazz around Vancouver, or join the National Aboriginal Day celebrations in Canada Place or Rocky Point Park. This would be the perfect time to make sure you have a tube of sunscreen in every bag (and one in the car), as you’ll need it for weeks from now on!
