Earth to table is all the rage but what about earth to skin? When it comes to our skin we’ve become as careful about what we put on it as we are with our kids’, which is why we’re always on the hunt for safer skincare with ingredients we can recognize. But until we discovered Tata Harper’s amazing line of luxe products we’d rarely found skincare that takes such ownership over the whole process – from growing to shipping.
The Tata Harper line focuses on ingredients grown on her Vermont farm, is packed in glass whenever possible and all research, development, formulations, packaging, marketing and the like take place in house. The line combines 100% natural, non-toxic and organic ingredients with anti-aging technology for skincare that’s works for us on many levels, not just the surface. They have everything from cleansers and moisturizers to essences and serums so you can put together a regime tailored to your skin’s needs. And her products each contain at least six (and up to 29) active ingredients compared to about half that in other similar skincare lines.
For our skin, which is – ahem – mature but also tends to have the occasional blemish (which seems vastly unfair), we particularly loved the Rejuvenating Serum and the truly mattifying Rebuilding Moisturizer. We like the natural, light scents of her products and find a little goes a long way.
And whenever personal care products makes claims around their enviro cred we check them out on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep site where we found that the whole line falls between zero and two. It’s not often that we see a whole line with a hazard rating that low.
There is one downside to all the organic goodness. The cost. The line is a real splurge with Rebuilding Moisturizer coming in a $110 and the Serum at $165 which is why we’re investing in it piece by piece. Luckily they have a Deluxe Beauty Set ($72) with seven key products that allows you to give it a good try before you commit.
And a Deluxe Set, or a product or two, would make excellent stocking stuffers for super fancy stocking. Just saying.
