Little Spooks and Friendly Ghosts at VanDusen Botanical Garden
Saturday, October 29th, 5 pm – 7 pm, VanDusen Botanical Garden, 5251 Oak Street, Vancouver
Kids under nine are invited to this just-spooktacular-enough Little Spooks & Friendly Ghosts event brought to life by Public Dreams. Your little ones can play giant Jenga with seven foot tall pieces of lightweight packing foam, learn to juggle, partake of crafts in the Glasshouse, enjoy Public Dreams’ amazing stilt characters and more. Be sure to get your tickets in advance at the Garden Shop or on the day at the Garden Entrance. The event goes on no matter what the weather and special pricing is in effect – $7.50/adult and $5.25 for kids from 3 – 18 or $16 for a family of four and children must be accompanied by an adult.And feel free to come in costume: www.vandusengarden.org

The Stanley Park Ghost Halloween Train
Friday, October 7th – Monday, October 31st, Sunday – Thursday (6 pm – 10 pm), and Fridays & Saturdays (6 pm – 11 pm), Stanley Park Train and Barnyard, Vancouver

The always-popular Stanley Park Ghost Train is back this year, and the theme is Circus of Disaster.  Come and see what the team at Mortal Coil has dreamed up this year.  The train is fully covered and protected from the weather, so don’t let fall rains hold you back.  There will also be face painting, a haunted maze, pumpkin carving, and more.  The Stanley Park Ecology Society will also be holding their Creatures of the Night nature walks.  Tickets for the train are available at Ticketmaster: www. vancouver.ca

Dunbar Haunted House
Friday, October 14th – Monday Oct 31st, 7 pm – 10 pm, 8934 Shaughnessy Street, Vancouver

After six years, the Dunbar Haunted House has a new home.   This volunteer run haunted house raises funds for three important lower mainland charities.  Admission is by donation, with a mandatory minimum after 7 pm ($10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under.)  Not recommended for very young children, as this haunted house can be scary: www.dunbarhauntedhouse.com

Spooky Street Train & Carousel
Tuesday, October 4th – Monday, October 31st, Mall House, Lansdown Mall, 5300 Number 3 Road, Richmond
Kids can ride the Scarousel, swing on the Psycho Swing, or ride the Ghost Train along the Street of Screams.  Rides operate during regular mall hours, and are $3.50 each (multi ride discount cards are available.)  If your little ones are under age 3, one adult can ride along with them for free.  Don’t worry, these rides are only mildly scary, and shouldn’t cause bad dreams: lansdowne-centre.com

Treacherous Tea

Haunted Forest Scream Train

Ghost Ridge Haunted House

Halloween Drive-In

The Drive-In is coming to Vancouver, in the form of a four-story high inflatable screen.  Catch one (or both!) of two Halloween classics, Gremlins and Beetlejuice.  Cars need to pre-buy tickets at $20 a car.  Pedestrians and cyclists are free and can set up chairs in front of the cars.  There will be no drugs or alcohol (cars will be inspected on entry) and no idling in cars allowed, so dress warmly and bring blankets.  Proceeds go to Cinema4Change: www.halloweendrivein.ca

  2. For pumpkin patches – we love Laity Pumpkin Patch in Maple Ridge. And the Apple Barn in Abbotsford is great, just a little too far from North Van some times!
