vancouver: what to do, what to do?
September is winding down, but October is fast on its heels with lots of fun family activities and celebrations. You can fill your tummy with tasty baked goods at the Baker’s Market, celebrate the Chinese Culture, or check out the Bellies to Babies Celebration. Farther afield, you have two apple festivals to choose from where you can taste different varieties of apples and apple goods; improve animal habitat at Green Timbers; and check out a variety of Kids Swap Meets. Across Canada communities are celebrating Culture Days, and around the world moms and babies are taking part in the Breastfeeding Challenge.

Variety is the name of the game for the events happening in and around T.O. this weekend: get dramatic at Second City; “Fall” into family fun at the ROM; visit High Park for some old-fashioned harvest festivities; kick off the fall fair season with only a short drive out of the city; and join a free, interactive class of musical fun with the kiddos. Fall is fun in the city!

Jr. Gamers Starter Pack

We love learning through games. And we’re not even talking overtly educational games; games are just naturally packed, full-of-learning fun. Card, dice, and board games for 3-5 year-olds are generally about introducing basic skills: dice rolling; counting; colour, letter and number recognition; matching; turn taking; memory; concepts of luck vs. skill; and fine motor skills, [...]
the most important meal of the day

When we think back to the days of our misspent youth, we recall early morning (or late night, depending on how you looked at it) breakfasts that involved plates piled high with grease, and bottomless pits of coffee. Nowadays, we still crave the bottomless coffee…perhaps for different reasons…but the plates of grease aren’t as appealing. We love the thought of a relaxing brunch, but our wee ones certainly don’t have the patience, or the appetite, for it. Thank goodness we found Cora.

The advent of fall is the perfect time to plan some family games nights. We’re big games people in our house, but we’ve found other parents looking at us like they’d rather have a root canal when it’s suggested…and then we realized, maybe they’re stuck in the mind-numbing monotony of Monopoly, Candyland and the Game [...]

Fall has arrived in T.O., and it has brought a whole lot of fun with it! Book nerds won’t want to miss the annual Word On The Street festival; teachers (plus a guest) get in free to the Zoo; the lovable and kooky Toopy & Binoo make a stop in the city; families will enjoy free admission to The Ontario Science Centre for the annual Community Day; and a quick trip out of town is the way to go if you love festivals and apples!

Often times, when we think of indulging, we approach things from the outside in. Be it a pedicure, a new skincare regime (link to Monday Organics 4u article), or a really stupendous massage. But what about taking care of the inner you? Running around after little ones can take a toll on even the most stalwart of parents, so eating right becomes paramount. And in order to make healthy eating easy, not only does a food have to taste good, it helps if it’s super convenient as well: like Annie Oxidants.
