apple of our eye

We often hear, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Good advice, especially now that apple season is almost here! But even if the apples aren’t quite ready for picking, Chudleigh’s Farm is still a great day trip destination for a fun-filled family outing.

vancouver: what to do, what to do?

This weekend the city is hopping with fun things to do! Summer Live at Stanley Park should be phenomenal, or if you’d prefer something that caters solely to ages six and under, check out Rockin’ in the Park. Marpole is also hosting a street party and there’s a Bobs and Lolo concert at the Village in Park Royal. Get out on the water with MEC’s Paddlefest, or check out the local fire hall open houses. And farther afield there are a ton of local outdoor activities geared for kids ages 12 and under. To quote Martha and the Vandellas, “Summer’s here and the time is right for dancin’ in the streets”. Get out there and join the party!

Now that summer is here and it’s hot, hot, hot, the GTA is ready with plenty of outdoor fun for the whole family! Take in Kidfest Weekend at Centre Island, visit the Zoo for a stuffed animal check up with a real Vet, treat a favourite Teddy Bear to a picnic at Chudleigh’s, or make a night of it and push bedtime back for an evening showing of Shrek Forever After under the stars.

The dress alone made us swoon with envy. Our little ones have also gone a little royal crazy, and with the royals currently visiting Canada, we thought we’d offer some ideas for how to satisfy your wee one’s Anglophilia.

sneezing and leaking, oh my!

Filed Under Places, Pregnancy and Birthing | July 5, 2011

There are many lovely things that pregnancy and babies bring, but motherhood can also wreak less-than-lovely changes on a woman’s body. Warning: we’re not talking about stretch marks here…this is going to be a little more graphic. Think incontinence, back pain, and abdominal separation, among other things. But did you know that a physiotherapist can help with pain and ab separation, not to mention rescue you from a lifetime of leaking after you sneeze?

green city

Filed Under Events, Going Green, Places | July 5, 2011

We’re lucky that living in Toronto doesn’t mean sacrificing green space. Despite the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan city, there are plenty of parks and outdoor havens to enjoy. And Evergreen Brick Works, located two minutes off the busy DVP, is no exception.

all kitted out

We’ve been doing 14 hour plus road trips since our oldest was two, so we’ve learned a few things about passing the time. Our secret to sanity is our Road Trip Kit. It’s a Rubbermaid bin that sits on the backseat between our two kids (a more portable version goes on planes) and is packed full of entertainment. Here’s a few of our current take-along-fun favourites to get you started this summer.
