Sustainable-Spring-Kids-Clothing

To complement the sunnier weather, here’s part two of our spring style series, featuring more fantastically sustainable items from Canadian companies for your little one’s spring wardrobe:

Native Shoes (pictured above)
Easy, practical and comfortable doesn’t have to be ugly – at least not when it comes to shoes. We put our feet in some Native Shoes in an effort to be practically cool. The shoes are made from EVA (an odor-resistant material that is 100% vegan, BPA and phthalate free) and come in a shoebox made from 100% post consumer recycled materials. Also, unlike other similar footwear that rhymes with ‘box’, Native Shoes are mono-material, so they’re easy to recycle. These brightly coloured kicks are designed in Vancouver and are inspired by classic, casual silhouettes.  They are comfortable, breathable and a breeze to take on and off (ideal for the kiddos), making them the perfect accessory for a day at the beach or in the garden: nativeshoes.com

Starfish Kidz
When our toddler tester donned his skullz beanie and matching tee from Starfish Kidz, we were once again reminded that our kids dress better than we do. Their collection of hand-appliquéd bamboo tees, beanies, and onesies are soft and cozy. They also come in gender-neutral designs, which are still fun and bold enough to let your little rocker, pirate, or even pirate princess, express themselves to the fullest. We were excited about the custom designs, so we could outfit our whole family in yo-yo-appliqued beanies and tees. And while we love the feel of bamboo and how well it washes, we’re always sure to air dry their pieces because they do shrink a fair amount if they accidentally (oops!) make it into the dryer: www.starfishkidz.com

Boské Kids
There is something to be said for the simple beauty of natural fibres, be it organic cotton, wool, or bamboo, which is why we have fallen in love with Boské Kids.  Boské Kids fabrics come from small scale family suppliers in Peru, who use sustainable, fair trade and environmentally sound practices. Each item of clothing is practical, yet beautifully playful and eminently stylish.  Our tester happily crawled around in an organic cotton dress and baby alpaca legwarmers.  We were impressed by the quality and workmanship of the togs, and think they would make a great shower gift.  While we love the simplicity of the neutral colours, we were a bit concerned about how they’d hold up to the day to day toddler abuse: www.boskekids.com

We look forward to seeing you out and about in your spring best!
