If the thought of dressing your kiddo in logo-emblazoned wear makes you shudder, we’d like to introduce you to Super Cool Kids Clothing (SCKC) – a Toronto-based kid’s clothing line that is adorably chic and comfy, and decidedly un-branded.

SCKC was started by a mum and daughter team, Rose and Lauren, who were less than enthused with the options they had to clothe the kids and grandkids – especially the lack of cool boy clothes. So they decided to create their own line…from scratch. They hired a designer and got to work, hand picking fabrics and creating clothes (from newborn to size 10) that are easy to wear and fun to buy (think coordinated without being matchy-matchy). The easy-wearing and fashionable duds, like capri jeggings with ankle zips and the motorcross jacket, line the walls of SCKC’s Yonge & Eglinton store, which is big, bright, and very stroller friendly. There’s also plenty of staff available to help you find the right size, or make outfit suggestions, and there’s a small play area with beanbag chairs and a toy kitchen, for kiddos who may be more into fun than fashion.

With approximately 50 newly fashioned styles for boys and girls each season, you can definitely find some unique looks for your kids – and everything has been designed to be interchangeable. Stripes, solids, and colours that all work together. We love how soft the clothes are (no really, they are amazingly soft!) and the outfit creation options – we found three different pairs of tights to complement a favourite hoodie, and the reversible dress is a brilliant idea for our messy preschooler! The clothes are almost all made of 100% cotton, and Lauren stressed they stay away from synthetic fabrics as much as possible. Which means everything is wash and wear, with no fuss. We threw a bright red hoodie, a tunic dress, and some ruched tights in the washer and dryer, and all came out the same color they went in without any obvious shrinkage.

The SCKC line is available at the Toronto store and online, and we’re pretty sure our kids’ closets will soon contain less of the big box clothing brands, and more super cool clothes. If only they made grown-up sizes…
