sleep, glorious sleep
When we were first pregnant, all we ever heard was “get lots of sleep now, because you’re never going to sleep again”. We were well prepared for the lack of sleep thanks to years of practice during our misspent youth, and did fairly well with the sleepless nights from feedings, teething, and the like. But when the time came to deal with the more unusual sleep issues, we were at a loss. There are endless books, DVDs, and websites that focus on dealing with sleep challenges, ranging from practical to downright alarming. But sometimes you need more personalized advice, which is what you get when you engage Sleepdreams (formerly North Shore Occupational Therapy).

With warmer temps and longer days, hitting the road with the kiddos for some adventure suddenly feels a lot more doable. Daytrips are perfect for family fun outside the city, and don’t require a lot of planning, money, or patience. mama moments

At the risk of sounding cliché, here at yoyomama we really believe every day should be “Mother’s Day.” The work you mums put in taking care of your brood, whether you’re at home, at work, or a bit of both, is impressive and inspiring – we know, because we’re right there with you. Now Mother’s Day may have turned into the classic “Hallmark Holiday” but it doesn’t have to be all about the store-bought presents (unless, of course, it’s the perfect excuse for that new espresso machine or Tiffany bauble you’ve been eyeing!)

It’s a great weekend in the GTA to stock up on unique kid stuffs at The Children’s Trunk Show, enjoy any number of Mother’s Day events (with cake pops, tea, and a dinner cruise if you want to go all out!), satisfy the science-curious members of the family at the Science Centre, or get outside for a fun kite-flying festival – no need to leave the city for fun this weekend!

owl these years
Chances are we’re not the only yoyos who fondly remember reading Owl Magazine in our youth. Or perhaps you were more of a ChickaDEE or Chirp devotee? Whatever your feather, we suspect it’ll make you feel nostalgic to learn that Owl Kids is turning 35 this year. That’s 35 years of interesting and award-winning magazines and books for Canadian kids.
