sustainable style

When you buy clothes for your little ones the responsible side of shopping can get overwhelming. Where was this item made? By whom? What fabrics are eco and chic? Luckily these three Canadian designers have answered all those responsible questions for us, all while creating super stylish duds:
Peekinz Baby (pictured above)
We don’t know anyone who enjoys wrestling with a toddler to check a diaper only to discover all was for naught and the diaper is bare. Enter the Peekinz pocket. Peekinz makes bamboo onesies, sleepers and rompers for the two and under set and each one has a clever pocket opening on the back that’s perfect for peeking for poo. Our tester looked incredibly comfy and cozy in his rockstar romper, and we were asked several times where we got such a stylish outfit. The bamboo is very stretchy, and slightly clingy, so he did look like a junior speedskater, but hopefully that means a gold medal is in our future: www.peekinz.com
littleMoSo
littleMoSo makes classically-styled, soft bamboo clothes and accessories for kids from newborn on up to eight. We love the simple designs that allowed our little one’s personality to shine through and not be overwhelmed by logos and bling. Our favourite items are the panties for little girls and boxers for boys. While they are a bit pricier than big box store knickers, they are perfect for kids that don’t like itchy tags. As for their dresses, our tiny tester wears hers day and night because the fleecy lining is so cozy. And they have lots of new styles and designs coming out just in time for spring: www.littlemoso.com
mini mioche
When we first got our hands on the clothing from mini mioche, we had a very hard time passing it on to be tested because the fabric was just about the softest thing we’d ever felt. All mini mioche garments are made in Canada of super-soft organic cotton and other eco-friendly fabrics. The line is comprised of stylish duds for the under sixes that set our hearts a flutter. With great names like the Comfy Cardi, the Joy Dress and the Boogie Pant, these clothes are made for kids to play, sleep and snuggle in. Too bad they don’t make clothes for us as well: www.minimioche.
All the clothing we tested washed up beautifully, has been worn again and again with love and made us note that, as usual, our children are better dressers than we are.
