It’s fair to say that learning isn’t always fun. Except at Pedagogy Toys, where little visitors get to experience learning, without giving up the fun.
Pedagogy Toys is a toy store in the newly refurbished River Market at Westminster Quay. The store is filled to its brightly painted rafters with toys that encourage creativity, board games for fun and learning, costumes for dress-up, and books that inspire imagination. Everything has been double checked for safety standards by the store’s owner, Karen, who is an environmental engineer by trade and toy store owner by passion. Many items are Canadian-made, and Karen and her husband and co-owner Craig choose every product, in consultation with their three kids of course. So with those stamps of approval, rest assured everything in the store will be well loved by the kiddos in your life.
But this store is about more than just “stuff.” Karen and Craig want little ones to learn while also having fun, which is why they host Bloom Art Studio in the back of the store. This studio offers drop-in art classes for all ages, including parent-child classes for kids as young as age two. They also have drop-in workshops for the whole family to create art projects together, with a bonus of leaving the mess at Bloom! Along with the art classes, Pedagogy offers summer science camps to inspire the little scientist or environmentalist in your life.
Many items in the brick and mortar store are also available on their website, which we found a little bulky to navigate and not as fully stocked. Pedagogy’s appeal is definitely in its personality as an old-fashioned kids’ store with heart. And one that is destined to be a part of your kiddos lives for years to come.
