Many experienced mums offer this advice: fill the fridge with healthy snacks before bringing home baby, because healthy eating with a newborn is truly as tricky as mastering the perfect swaddle. Brian McKilligan, founder of The Yummy Tummy Soup Company, came up with the idea of delivering soup based on the care package concept. Yummy Tummy soup packages can be delivered to anyone in your life who many need a boost – like new mums with empty fridges, or a sick co-worker. Packages are either “Simply Soup”, with a two-litre jar of chicken noodle soup and breadsticks, or the “Classic Package”, which has soup, breadsticks, a ceramic mug, and your choice of cookies or a cupcake-in-a-jar. Both packages come complete with a personalized note, in a gift box, and make a great alternative to flowers.

The soup, a family recipe, had chunky celery and carrot pieces, along with big pieces of chicken, and egg noodles. Hearty and yummy, one bowl filled us up. And because it’s cooked in small batches, the soup is super fresh when it arrives. Yummy Tummy uses farmer’s market ingredients, and no additives aside from a small amount of salt. Seasoned with rosemary and garlic, the breadsticks were crunchy and tasty, although we might have preferred a soft breadstick. The chocolate chunk cookies were so good we ate three in one sitting. And while the cupcake-in-a-jar was good, our vote would go to the cookies.

While all Yummy Tummy products are home-cooked, we were surprised by the lack of ingredient lists (aside from the soup).
