Welcome to yoyomama’s weekend guide! Your go-to list of family friendly fun things to do with kids in Toronto and the GTA.
April Fools Day kicks off the weekend and there are plenty of events across Toronto to keep the fun going! Books worms will want to check out the Keep Toronto Reading Festival, and little astronomers can view the sun through telescopes at the Science Centre. If you have a hungry and outdoorsy gang, head to the Terra Cotta Conservation area for a pancake breakfast and other outdoor fun.

Spring brings many things…flowers, singing birds, frolicking wildlife and warmer weather. And with the warmer weather comes rain. A lot of rain. We hate being trapped indoors by inclement weather, so we are always looking for ways to be able to enjoy the outdoors, even if we get a bit wet. And when you have a baby or toddler in a stroller, keeping everyone warm and dry becomes even more of a challenge. Traditional stroller rain protection can be…well…oddly condom like and really alienating for both baby and parent alike. So we turned to the Buggy Bag.

Which is why love Evymama — a Toronto nursing and maternity boutique where mums can find fashion, comfort, and convenience in a one-stop shop.

Now that’s what we call a useful one-two punch.

At one point or another most parents will exclaim in exasperation, “Why don’t kids come with instruction manuals?” If only. Sure, there are enough parenting books to keep you reading until your infant goes to university, but many sit on coffee tables, unopened, because while your toddler is having an epic tantrum is not the time to be flipping pages for help. Ain’t Misbehavin’, best-selling Canadian author and parenting expert Alyson Schafer’s latest book, solves that dilemma with bite-sized tips and strategies, organized in an easy-to-access menu.

The weekend may seem a little slow but that’s because all the activity is happening in our Spring Break Activities Guide. Plus we’ve also created a separate guide full of other ways to keep your kids busy over the two week break – it includes everything from crafts, to places to visit to readers recommendations (we’d love yours!). And this Saturday the 26th it’s Earth Hour from 8:30 pm – 9:30, it’s an opportunity to think about how we use and produce energy.
