do you deliver?

If you’re heading off to hotter climes or have a hot Valentine’s Day date (yeah right!) and you’re strapped for time to hit the spa to get ready – by which we mean depilate, gussy up your toes and the like – then why not save a little time and stress by bringing the spa to you?
No, we’re not suggesting you try one of the wax-at-home kits, instead Spa Mobile, the on-the-go business of local esthetician Amanda Solomon-Guthrie, is the perfect way to fit the grooming (or pampering) you need into your busy mum schedule. There’s no need to arrange your spa appointments around preschool hours, your babysitter’s schedule or your jam-packed weekend, instead have Solomon-Guthrie come to you while your kids are napping. Or not. Heck, we even know one spa mobile-er whose toddler hangs out with her while she gets waxed.
We have to admit we weren’t sure about admitting an unknown esthetician carrying hot wax into our home, but Solomon-Guthrie put us at ease immediately, recreating a spa setting in our messy, toy-strewn living room, the latest trashy magazines included. She gives a wicked mani-pedi that not only left us feeling extremely pampered but lasted for ages. And she didn’t shy away from our questions about the hygiene of her tools or how exactly one gets one’s bikini line waxed with kids about.
All that and her prices are on par with your average Vancouver spa. By which we mean average price, not average quality. A spa mobile gift certificate would be a great Valentine’s Day gift – to ask for or to give – and also makes a lovely present for an expectant or brand new mum who may need some pampering. Solomon-Guthrie also works with patients who are bedridden at home or in the hospital and who would never be able to get the little pick-me-up some beautifying gives you without a service like hers.
All you need to supply is water for the tub. And one of those huge vibrating chairs. Hmm, we wonder if a nursing glider would suffice?
