toronto: what to do, what to do?
With the flurry of Christmas behind us, and many schools and daycares still closed, we know kids still have some leftover holiday energy to burn off. This weekend’s theme in T.O. is all about saying “Goodbye!” to 2010, and “Hello!” to 2011, in family-friendly fashion. Visit the Toronto Zoo for the annual Family Countdown, drop by the ROM for a final viewing of the Terracotta Army, or take the kids to enjoy The National Film Board’s animation workshops. We hope you have a very happy New Year!

With Santa coming to town this weekend the city is quieter than usual! If you’re not busy with holiday family gatherings, there are still a few fun things to enjoy in T.O. (find our list of ongoing holiday activities here). Kids will love watching their favourite Disney characters skate, jump and twirl on ice, and the annual Boxing Day Zoo walk is a real treat.

Soon your house may be feeling more hectic than holiday as schools and daycares close for the Christmas break. With kids underfoot and a million and one things to do before you can relax, we know you’ll need a little help to get that to-do list knocked off. Outdoors fun is always a good option, but with the cold temps and blustery winds Toronto’s been getting recently, the wee ones won’t last long out there. These entertaining indoor activities will keep the little ones busy (and warm) so you can finish your holiday prep in peace. Happy holidays to you!
keep it simple

The holidays tend to be about excess. Too many events. Too many presents (for our kids anyhow, we feel there’s no such thing as too much when it comes to ourselves). Too much food. And too much imbibing. Or maybe you’re pregnant and not imbibing at all. Or imbibing’s just not your thing. Or you need an imbibing break. But what do you fall back upon? The classic cranberry and soda? It gets a little tired after awhile. Which is why we’ve switched to Simple Sodas.

Every once in awhile we come across something so functional, stylish and fun that it makes us really, really wish we had a baby again. And this swaying, bouncing, car-ride imitating, iPod connecting, swish baby seat – thought seat doesn’t quite encompass all that this does – definitely ignited our baby lust.

You’ve gotten – or you’re close to getting – all the gifts on your list sorted and now it’s time to wrap them all up. Did you know that at this time of year household waste increases about 25%? Rather than adding to that waste, why not give eco with your gifts by packaging them in creative, greener ways?
