greener cleaner

We have cleaning on our mind lately and we suspect it has a lot to do with spending more time inside which means more opportunities to spot the dirt. It also means you’ll notice more scents in your home, from the yummy (apple crisp in the oven) to the not so yummy (toxic cleaning fluids) so we’re always on the hunt for effective, eco-friendly and better smelling cleaning alternatives. Like those from AspenClean.
AspenClean started as a natural cleaning company in Vancouver but when their customers kept asking where they could find the products the company used, they decided it was time to share their eco-cleaning secrets. Made in Canada, derived from plants and minerals and containing no phosphates, petroleum, sulphates or synthetic fragrances, their line has also received Ecocert certification.
The line – which is currently only available in BC – includes specific cleaners for the kitchen, the bathroom and glass as well as an all purpose cleaner and a scrubbing powder. They’re all scented with essential oils, think lavender and lime for the bathroom and bergamot and grapefruit for the kitchen.
Cleaning your house may not be sexy on any level, but it is a lot more fun when the products you use are effective and smell good and AspenClean’s cleaners are definitely effective. Each cleaner comes with a colour-coordinated reusable microfiber cloth designed to make cleaning more effective and the cloths really do add a little oomph to each product’s power. Our favourites are their Glass Cleaner which left everything streak free and the Kitchen Cleaner which even worked on our ceramic stovetop. If you’re more DIY than we are then definitely check out the natural cleaning recipes on their site.
The only thing we don’t like about them? The fact that we actually have to, you know, clean the house. Which is why we plan to test their cleaning service next, because someone else cleaning your house with environmentally friendly products is so very much better than you doing it yourself.
