Consider this list of ongoing Halloween events your Halloween HQ for this month. Bookmark it and refer back often as we’ll update when we find spooktacular new fun! Just a note though, this only includes ongoing events, and you’ll find our pumpkin patch listing at the very end, one off events will be featured in our regular weekend guides on the Thursday before Halloween – unless you’d like it a bit earlier, let us know if so – it’s bound to be a busy weekend.

Grave Tales in Fort Langley
Friday, October 1st – Sunday, October 23rd,  Fridays & Saturdays at 7 pm & 9 pm and Sunday at 7 pm, 23433 Mavis Avenue, Fort Langley

Creatures Of The Night Theatrical Walk

Friday, October 8th – Sunday, October31st, 5 pm, 6 pm, 7 pm & 8 pm, Stanley Park Miniature Train Plaza, Vancouver

Stanley Park Ghost Train
Friday, October 8th – Sunday, October31st, 2009, 6 pm – 10 pm nightly, Stanley Park Miniature Railway, Vancouver
This year’s Ghost Train is all about Alice. Thanks to Vancouver’s Mortal Coil Performance Society it’s a bit more Alice in Nightmareland rather than Wonderland. Plus there’ll also be hat making (à la the Mad Hatter), face painting and the Children’s Haunted Farmyard, which opens at 5 pm each evening. This isn’t recommended for kids under five – but you’ll know how much fun fear your child can take: vancouver.ca/parks/events/ghosttrain

Children’s Halloween Fair & Train
Saturday, October 9th – Sunday, October 31st, 10 am -5 pm, Bear Creek Park Train, Surrey
The park may be full of fear when the scream train rides at night, but during the day things are little less scary with Halloween crafts and games, treats and you can ride the train through the Halloween forest display: bctrains.com

Boo-Levard Train
Monday, October 11th – Monday, November 1st, Brentwood Town Centre, Centre Court, 4567 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby
Bring your kids to the Mall’s Centre Court for a ride that’s fun and a little bit spooky too. Kids under three ride for free: www.brentwoodtowncentre.com

Haunted Forest Scream Train
Friday, October 15th – Sunday, October 31st, 6:30 pm – 10 pm, Bear Creek Park Train, Surrey
This ride is recommended for “mature youngsters”. With scary sounds and experiences and characters from years past, including Chainsaw Charlie, the ride goes on every night, no matter what the weather: bctrains.com

Potters House of Horrors
Friday, October 15th  to Sunday, October 31st, 6 pm to 7pm nightly is Family Hour, Potters, 12530 72 Avenue, Surrey
The Garden Centre goes all out at Halloween with a walk through display, a state-of-the-art sound system, the latest in animatronics and live actors and a darkened maze. Boo! pottershouseofhorrors.com

Dunbar Haunted House
Friday, October 15th – Sunday, October 31st, Sunday – Thursday, 1 pm – 9 pm, Friday – Saturday, 1 pm – Midnight & Sunday, October 31st, 1 pm – Midnight, 6478 Dunbar Street, Vancouver
Best for younger kids between 1 pm and 6:30 pm, this personal production designed to rekindle Halloween spirit in the hood has grown into a huge and much-anticipated event. This year proceeds will be donated to the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, the Christmas Bureau, and the Vancouver Police Union Charity Foundation: www.dunbarhauntedhouse.com

Variety Halloween Haunted House
Saturday, October 16th – Sunday, October 31st, 6 pm – 9 pm, 443 Draycott Street, Coquitlam
It’s the Variety fundraiser’s annual Haunted House with fun for all ages. Donations of cash or bottles are greatly appreciated: www.variety.bc.ca

Halloween At The Aquarium
Saturday, October 16th – Sunday, October, 31st, various times, Stanley Park, 845 Avison Way, Vancouver
For the second half of October the Aquarium will be super spooky thanks to their exclusive Skulls, Bones and Creeps of the Deep exhibit featuring sharks and killer whales. Plus you’ll get caught up in a pirate’s search for treasure when watching the 4D film The Curse of Skull Rock. And you can join in their haunted treasure hunt for a chance to win an Octopus Encounter for two. Be sure to check their site for times as not all events occur each day: www.visitvanaqua.org

Kilby’s Haunted Halloween
Friday, October 22nd, Sunday, October 24th, Friday, October 29th & Saturday, October 30th, 2 pm – 8 pm, 215 Kilby Rd, Harrison Mills
Prepare to be scared. This 102-year-old hotel and general store are the perfect setting for a fright night – but you can choose just how scary things will be, making this fearfully family-friendly. The theme? Pirates of Harrison Bay. And you can also make crafts, catch a Halloween movie and rumour has it there’ll be treats: www.kilby.ca


The Great Big Boo!

Friday, October 22nd – Saturday, October 30th, various times and locations in North Vancouver, Surrey and an outdoor show at the Fort Langley National Historic Site

We haven’t yet caught this show live but we love the soundtrack, especially around this time of year. Not only do you get to see the story of Boo Alley, the home of Wendella the Witch which includes lots of music and dance numbers, but after the show you can meet and trick-or-treat with the stars of the show. Terror Hall
Tuesday, October 26th – Saturday, October 30th, 6 pm – 7 pm, East Richmond Community Hall, 12360 Cambie Road, Richmond

Turn up for some family-friendly terror. Phobias, darkness and other elements of dread are the focus of this haunted experience. And your $2 admission fee will be donated to Breast Cancer Awareness: www.richmond.ca

Burnaby Museum Haunted Village
Thursday, October 28th – Saturday, October 30th, 6 pm – 9 pm, Burnaby Museum, 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
The ghoul community in the village is hosting a traveling circus and problems ensue. Come in costume, bring a flashlight and catch circus characters, ghosts, witches, stilt walkers and goblins lurking in the village streets. You can also trick or treat at the houses of ghoulish village folk and hear the devil’s blacksmith at the anvil and lots, lots more. Oh and entrance includes unlimited carousel rides: www.burnaby.ca

Halloween Haunted Cannery Tours

Aldor Acres Pumpkin Patch

Rondriso Farms
Friday, October 1st – Sunday, October 31st, weekdays 3 pm – 6 pm & weekends and holidays 10 am – 6pm, 8390 172nd Street, Surrey
Take a hay wagon ride through the patch to find the biggest, coolest pumpkin around or choose already picked pumpkins, mini pumpkins, gourds and winter veggies too. You can also visit the cows and calves in the barn: rondriso.com

Westham Island Herb Farm Pumpkin Patch

Friday, October 1st – Sunday, October 31st, 9 am – 5 pm, Westham Island Herb Farm, 4690 Kirkland Road, Delta
Not just a Pumpkin Patch but Ladner’s self professed Halloween headquarters. In addition to pumpkins you’ll find a great display of scarecrows, a spooktacular haunted Quonset hut and you can catch the seasonal decorating spirit by stocking up on ornamental gourds, corn stalks, miniature and full size hay bales and more. And we’ve said it before but don’t forget you can combine it with a trip to the Reifel Island Bird Sanctuary just down the street: www.westhamislandherb.ca

Laity Pumpkin Patch
