deadly duds for dashing dudes

In order to encourage gender equity, after we mentioned the fair trade felted wool crown and bracelets for girls for Monday, we wanted to balance things out with some fun, seasonally-themed duds for little dudes.

We started with a stylish onesie from Canadian company Sookie Baby.  We love the simple and fun design and we found the fit a little bit larger than labelled (which was perfect for our 125 percentile baby tester).  All of the Sookie Baby collection is bold and graphic and would look equally hip on a rebellious baby boy or girl.  The skull and cross rattle design is perfect for Halloween, or the days leading up to it, but we are also big fans of the flying guitar motif or the simple white star on bright red. While we like that the items are designed in Canada, we wish that the actual onesies were made here as opposed to China.

To compliment the dangerous look of the skull and cross-rattle, our tester tried out the skull pattern cinch belt and wrist cuff from Bugalug. Not only was the belt reversible (deadly skull and cross bones on one side, and speedy racing checked black and white on the other) but it was also easy to get on and off.  At first we thought it a bit odd to put a belt on a baby, but the fact that it kept up his always too loose pants while he motored across the kitchen floor made us instant converts. The cuff makes a great accessory to fun up a little boy’s oft plain looking wardrobe.  Calgary-based Bugalug uses recycled materials for their belts and cuffs and they’re so stylishly cool that we wish they were made in big boy sizes for the terminally hip men in our lives.

With this daring fashion combination, we are sure our little tester will scare the pants off of any beasties trying to steal our…we mean his…Halloween treats.
