With Halloween only a few weeks away, here’s a list of ongoing spooky, fun and entertaining events happening in and around the GTA. Bookmark it and refer back often as we’ll update when we find spooktacular new fun. We’ve also added farms with harvest festivities and pumpkin patches that will surely get the whole family into the fall spirit! Does anything get a parent’s goat like a picky eater? You carefully prepare nutritious and delicious meals only to have your picky little one turn up their nose at best and have a meltdown at worst. Despite our Ellyn Satter fuelled attempts to raise adventurous eaters one of our tots was sinking deeper and deeper into a picky rut. So we decided it was time to call in the professionals and we turned to Leah Perrier from Vancouver’s Perrier Nutrition for help.

Thanksgiving weekend typically brings loads of turkey and pumpkin pie, but it’s also an excuse to enjoy an extra day of fun with the family. For more traditional fun visit one of the city’s harvest festivals, or take a guided walk to enjoy the beautiful fall colours this season brings. Or for a wacky weekend memory, take part in the attempt to blow the biggest bubble gum bubble ever!

crowning glory

With October upon us we’re already thinking about that big event at month-end and so are our tots. And this year we’re all about making Halloween less scary. Don’t get us wrong, we’d never cut back on the spook-factor but we are planning to cut back on the junk and plan to aim for organic pumpkins, real treats, reusable bags and PVC-free costumes. And we have lots of finds along those lines this month, starting with this gorgeous felted wool crown and cuffs set

It’s that time of year again. Fall’s set in and cold and flu season is upon us so we’re up for doing pretty much anything we can to stay healthy, including being more vigilant about getting our daily dose of Vitamin D. This “sunshine vitamin” helps the body use calcium and phosphorous to build and maintain strong bones and teeth* and it also helps to strengthen the immune system and protect against diseases such as rickets and osteomalacia. It may even protect again hypertension, psoriasis, several autoimmune diseases and defend against cancer**.
