smooth as a baby’s…
Filed Under Going Green, Stuff | August 16, 2010
For mums it can be hard enough to find time to shower, let alone perform those showery sort of ablutions like shaving your legs (if that’s your thing). And during the summer it can feel more than a little obvious if you’ve forgotten, which is why we were intrigued to get our hands on eos ultra moisturizing shave cream, which can be used to shave either wet or dry.
An environmentally friendlier shave cream, all the eos – or evolution of smooth – flavours like cucumber melon and pomegranate raspberry are phthlate-free and contain aloe, shea butter and Vitamin E to pack a moisturizing punch. And the non-foaming cream is dispensed via a propellant-free pump (ie. it uses air rather than chemicals). One of our testers found the scents a little overpowering while another loved them, so if you’re not big on strong smelling products there is their unscented sensitive cream. And it’s all packaged in recyclable plastic bottles that contain post-consumer recycled materials and won’t leave irritating rust rings in your shower.
We do find it a little odd that most – but not all – of the eos shave cream formulations are paraben-free. The sensitive cream mentioned above is on its way to having nary a trace of parabens but their island blue cream still contains them.
The eos shave cream worked well both in the shower and out but we were especially intrigued by the dry shave option since it’s much easier to drop your razor and dash out of the bathroom when you hear the dulcet tones of sibling rivalry or a howling babe if you’re not dripping wet. And shaving dry really did result in smooth skin and a close shave, not funny red bumps and stubble. So if you get invited to a last minute play date and want to throw on your shorts you can do a quick, shower-free shave and you’re good to go. Sure you may not have washed your hair or brushed your teeth, but your legs will be lovely and smooth…

Thanks for your review. We are actually discontinuing the island blue fragrance, although it is still available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada and at certain online retailers for a limited time. All of our other fragrances are – and will be – paraben-free.
