déjà vu

There are many homes in which a calendar is the difference between blissful order and mind-numbing chaos – especially at back to school time when scheduling can feel like an Olympic event. Day ja View, a clever system developed by mum of three, Sharon Neiss, will make you toss your old calendar (yes, that expired one on the fridge) and rediscover your love of organization.
It all started one evening when Sharon, frustrated by the calendar systems out there, sat down with her kids’ arts and craft supplies and created her own. Challenging the idea that all wall calendars are created equal, Day ja View uses a template where recurring events are written down once, and only once. Other events are noted on monthly flip sheets, with each family member getting a different coloured marker. Replacement stickers allow for events to be changed easily, without smudges or lost information of a write on, wipe off system. With Day ja View, gone are the days of hand cramps from rewriting soccer games and swimming lessons, and hearing the exasperating question, “When is that happening again?”
The colour-coded system and ample size make it perfect for a high traffic area, like the kitchen or front hall. Created with family in mind, Sharon points out that Day ja View can also be used in any situation where organization is a priority, such as in an office or volunteer centre.
For those who insist a smartphone or computer is best for keeping the family in line, Sharon says Day ja View offers something those technology-based calendars cannot: It syncs the whole family, in one place, without having to turn anything on. That way parents, kids, grandparents, and babysitters can easily see what’s happening with no power button or WiFi connection required.
Along with the recurring events template and attached markers, we love that the calendar starts on Monday, because as the website states, “We’d like to know what job starts on a Sunday?”, and offers user tips such as “Don’t bother with ‘start diet’. Life’s too short. Trust us. Honey, you ARE gorgeous!”
