party arty

When it comes to kidlet party planning mamas seem to have bought into the myth that they should be able to do it all – bake a Martha Stewart-worthy cake, plan perfect, age-appropriate party games and design on-theme goody bags. But let’s face it, it’s a whole lot of work that’s not necessarily appreciated by the pint-sized party guests, sugary treats excepted of course, so at our most recent soiree we decided to call on the girls behind Party Arts for a little (okay a lot) of help.
The fledgling business of two local non-mamas, Party Arts will take on as little, or as much, of your party planning as you’d like. They offer the always-fun basics like face painting (with non-toxic makeup) and balloon twisting and they’ll also make custom loot bags, create themed crafts, play parachute games and produce piñatas, princess parties and more.
We put them to the party test and appreciated not just their face painting creativity as they were called on to design everything from butterflies, to houses, to snakes, to biker tatts but also their roll with the punches attitude. They were happy to adjust their plans to fit in with the always tenuous timeline of a tots’ party and they relieved rather than added to our stress. Their balloon twisting resulted in the requisite hats, swords – a huge, harmless sword fight ensued on the lawn – and dogs but the biggest hit among guests big and small was their parachute game.
Though the women behind Party Arts are experienced 24 hour party people, their site is still a work in progress and in our opinion, and theirs, doesn’t yet reflect all their creativity, but look for that to change soon.
And don’t just think about partying arty for birthdays, why not think summer garden parties or other multi-generational parties where everyone, and we do mean everyone, will be thrilled to have someone keeping the kids amused and engaged?
