You invest in reusable stainless steel containers, lend out your kids’ toys and rely on your cell more than you’d ever have thought possible. If you want make sure everything comes back where it belongs, why not label it? We’re particularly fond of the stylish labels from new Canadian company Emily Press.

With labels for everything from shoes to clothes to pencils, what makes Emily Press Labels stand apart is their range of designs and colours. Their Kids Play collection appeals to little ones, while their Hip & Whimsy collection is more tween-focused and if you want more adult-themed labels check out their EP Chic collection. As you’d expect their labels are waterproof and dishwasher and microwave safe and their clothing labels are laundry safe.

Here’s our handy label primer.  For kids think containers, clothes, school supplies, sippy cups, toys, and books. And for yourself we recommend you label your cell phone, camera (and their chargers), water bottles, sunglasses, backpacks, purses, umbrellas and anything else you don’t want to lose.

If you tend to be absent-minded and leave things behind – and when you’ve got little ones and all their accessories in tow when don’t you leave things behind? – Your initial label investment will probably end up saving you money as heaps of things will come back to you. One label-loving mama we know left her cell phone in a port-a-potty at the beach and lo and behold got call that it had been found.

We’re always faced with the dilemma of what to put on our labels as we like to pick one selection for the entire family, well the girls anyhow. We pick a style we like and personalize them with our last name and phone number. The only one who ends up left out is the man of the house, so for him we’d suggest something like the retro aqua labels from the more adult EP Chic collectio
