Strawberries are our fave summer salad addition! There are so many great picnic spots around town. One that we recently discovered – atop Burnaby Mountain, near the Horizons restaurant. If you can make the hike up the huge hill with all your picnic gear (by the kiddie park), it is well worth the effort! The view is AMAZING – all the way down to English Bay and beyond!

A tasty cheese – I love a strong goat cheese best! It helps make a salad appetizing for people who don’t really like salads much (and helped me during my pregnancies when eating vegetables made me feel nauseas!) Toasted nuts are also an appetizing addition!
I know I’m supposed to live by the 100 mile diet so I love summer all the more. I get fresher produce and bake goods at farm markets and get the comfort of helping local farmers to.
