vancouver: what to do, what to do?
It’s the first long weekend of summer and it’s packed with patriotic fun, we’re bringing you this a day early so you’re completely prepared for Canada Day tomorrow and the weekend that follows. And we’ll be doing something we’ve never done before, taking Friday off because we suspect most of you will be too. Oh and if the weather’s good be sure to take advantage of the fact that all the wading pools and water and spray parks are now open. And you can also celebrate by making this easy Canada Day cake.

We all need to get away sometimes, but when you’re limited by time or don’t have the necessary budget for an exotic jaunt why not stay and play a little closer to home? Harrison Hot Springs is just a 90-minute drive from Vancouver but far enough away in both distance and pace that you’ll feel you’ve had a proper break.

We like to feature safer lotions and potions for babes, but what about us? Our skin may no longer be soft as a baby’s bottom but that’s no reason not to treat it to products that are free from such things as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth, Sulfate, Diethanolamine, parabens, phthalates, artificial colours, dyes or synthetic fragrances. Like those from Consonant Body for example.

There are still family-friendly events this week (even with the G20 Summit taking place). Two “must-do’s” this weekend are the We are Family Day on Saturday, which promotes family inclusiveness and community building, as well as Totstock on Sunday which will get our tots mov’n and groov’n.

Summer’s here which means boating, swimming and generally trying to get close to the water whenever possible. But if you have a brand new baby it can be hard to find a floatation device to keep them safe and sound, which is why we were thrilled to get our hands on – and our babe into – the Salus Bijoux Baby Life Jacket.
