Marni Wasserman

If you’re a mum, you probably received a courtesy map to your nearest coffee shop right after you were discharged from the hospital with your precious babe. Okay, not exactly, but you get the picture.

As mummies we are sleep-deprived, food-deprived (of wholesome foods that is) and often completely depleted of energy.  Thankfully, Marni Wasserman is full of ideas for how us mamas can get our energy back.

As a graduate of the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and certified as a Nutritional Practitioner, Marni is passionate about teaching people how to become fully nourished through whole foods – foods that are as minimally processed and as close to nature as possible.

Toronto-based Marni offers consultations, workshops and more on achieving a balanced lifestyle through natural foods.  Smoothies are one of her go to foods as they offer an instant energy boost with no crash and burn later on.  Not only are smoothies easy to make and very portable, but they also help with weight loss; Ready to get out the blender yet?  In her blog you’ll find some smoothie recipes and ideas but you can also DIY combining berries, a non-dairy based milk, spinach, protein powder, and bananas which are great energy boosters.

And what about our tiny tots?  Marni recommends making plant-based foods the primary staple of their diet as plants boost both growth and energy.  Hmmm, do we really want our wee-ones doing extra laps around the kitchen floors?  Actually yes, as plant-based foods also boost immunity which means fewer sleepless nights tending to under the weather babes.

Marni Wasserman also offers makeovers (of your fridge and cupboard that is); she will also offer on-demand classes on how to cook for your kids.  So after our naturally-balanced smoothie boost, we’re going to call up some of our best girlfriends and have Marni give us a lesson or two on getting back to the basics with whole foods and yummy recipes.  We just wish she also consulted on getting our picky eaters (and partners) to eat their broccoli…
