glow baby food journal

There are times when we forget what we are feeding ourselves, let alone what we have fed our baby.  Has she tried peas? Corn?  Is she angry because that was her first taste of yogurt, or is she just angry?  We swore we wrote it down somewhere…but where?

Lately we’ve turned to Baby’s First Foods from Canadian Company Glow Baby to help aide our mummy memory.

The Baby’s First Foods Journal is similar to Glow Baby’s First Journal.  Compact enough to fit in your diaper bag or purse, this journal is designed to help you keep track of what your wee one’s first tastes are…even if you aren’t keeping track of what you are eating yourself.

The journal itself has tabs separating each major food category-grains, veggies, fruits, proteins, dairy and snacks and has a great menu planning and recipe section.  We wish the menu planning and recipe section were a bit bigger as we like it so much!

Each page is separated into three ‘tries’ so you can log what your baby’s reaction was to the new food.  You can also record temperature, time of day and whether or not your wee one had any sensitivities.

We would have liked a section on each page noting what new foods were introduced with.  We tend to use favourite foods as ‘transitional’ when introducing new ones – apple or sweet potato for instance – and we’re sure we aren’t the only ones.  There is a small section on the bottom of each page for you to take more specific notes but it filled up too quickly for us to use it for all that we wanted to.

The Baby’s First Foods Journal is a great way to keep track of your little one’s foods for yourself, and your caregivers, and will be a great memento for years from now when your little one has become a big one who refuses to eat his veggies.  You’ll be able look back on the days when he actually ate peas and smile.
