snug as a chick in a rug

Babies come with a lot of stuff. Soothers, bottles, bibs, diapers, wipes and lots of blankets. Receiving, burping, swaddling, snuggling, sleeping…the list goes on when it comes to blankets. There is a blanket for every possible occasion.
When we received the Big Fat Hen blanket, we thought, “Great, just what we need, another blanket.”
Turns out, it was just what we needed!
This blanket is thick, cozy, snugly and fun. At 29” x 31”, it is the perfect size for a stroller, bassinet or car seat. Made in Calgary, Alberta with 100% cotton on the ‘fun’ side, soft plush fuzzy backing on the other, and polyester batting to create warmth, this blanket oozes sleepy cozy goodness. The blanket is just heavy enough to make it difficult for kicking baby legs to launch it out of the stroller. We received the Jungle James pattern, and our little baby tester loved staring at the fun animal shapes. He sits on it as his play blanket when it’s not in his stroller as it is thick and squooshy should he topple over suddenly. We were a little bit worried about the white fuzzy batting, thinking that it would be a giant stain magnet, but after an ‘accident’ washed right out, our fears were alleviated.
Our one concern is with the edge of the blanket. Our tester is teething like a fiend, and he spends a lot of time chewing on the blanket, tearing out fuzzy bits with his swollen little gums. We have found a few bits of blanket fuzz in his diaper, and we were wondering if perhaps a bit of edging on the blanket might have prevented this.
We are also very sad that they don’t make adult sized blankets. We want it for snuggling up in front of the TV and eating bon bons.
All in all, we think the Big Fat Hen makes a great blanket and we are using it as our go to blanket for all things…blankety! Turns out this chicken is good for more than just eggs!
