madhatters teaparty

If your little one hosts a lot of tea parties with their pint-sized tea sets and inanimate guests then the Mad Hatter’s Tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver might be the perfect destination for your tea-loving tot.

The release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland inspired the hotel to create the tea and we were inspired to partake because of our little ones’ fascination with this classic illustrated edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland packed with all the different ways artists have imagined Alice over the past 145 years.

Adults can indulge in the Mad Hatter’s Tea which includes a sumptuous spread of scones, elegant little sandwiches, pastries, strawberries and cream and – of course – tea. For little ones they offer the March Hare Tea which features bubble gum tea (caffeine-free, pink tea with a gumball on the side) with a bubble maker, scones, sandwiches, cupcakes, cookies and strawberries and cream. Both spreads are delicious and the hotel will take dietary concerns and allergies into account. Admittedly the price is a titch steep, but you get heaps of goodies and they’ll pack up any of your leftovers (and there will be leftovers) to go, which means you can re-enact the whole experience when you get home.

And to continue with the literary theme, fans of the Eloise series will thrill at the opportunity to visit Vancouver’s equivalent of New York’s famed Plaza hotel. Because tea doesn’t last as long as full meal, we find it a perfect opportunity for our tots to practice their best manners, such as they are.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea is offered daily from 2 pm – 4:30 pm from now until April 30th and do make a reservation in advance. We think it’d make an excellent outing for grandmas and grandkids or if you wanted to throw a little birthday soiree for an older child she could invite a few of her best friends for tea. Alternately you could take advantage of the champagne option and go with a girlfriend and no kids in tow.

Thanks for sharing! I totally want to take Jamie. I’m sure she would love putting on a spring dress for a girly afternoon of tea and dainties.

Like tea often does itself, your idea/article totally hit the spot.

That looks like so much fun! Adding it to the list of places to try.
