After the runaway success of their re-imagining of Fourth Avenue’s iconic Hip Baby in Vancouver last spring, the team behind it all are making the leap over the Georgia Straight to open a second store in Victoria. You’re already familiar with Vancouver co-owners Jen MacCormack and Michael Ziff and Victoria mamas will soon be just as familiar with the Victoria faces of Hip Baby – Mary and Philippe Lucas.

The new store, in a beautiful location on Lower Johnson at Market Square, will offer the same great products and service with the focus on sustainability that began four years ago when MacCormack and Ziff conceived Fig Organic Kids.

In addition to sustainable, stylish shopping for the under six set they’ll also be offering informative workshops on everything from cloth diapering to naturopathy to feeding babies aimed at helping parents (and parents-to-be) navigate the rather confusing waters of parenthood. Vancouver’s Cloth Diapering Dad will regularly drop by the Victoria location to help guide parents who are interested in exploring the world of cloth diapers but overwhelmed by all the choices.

And it all starts at 11 am on April 3^rd when Hip Baby opens their doors with a splash in Victoria. There’ll be an Easter Egg Hunt, live music from local band Bucan Bucan, prizes and more fun for the whole family.

To celebrate their grand opening in Victoria Hip Baby is offering yoyomama readers an exclusive 15% discount at the new store until May 15^th, 2010. All you have to do is mention yoyomama when you’re making your purchases.

But that’s not all they’ve got up their sleeve. In other Hip Baby news, they’ll be re-launching their website in early May (just in time for Mother’s Day!) with full e-commerce capabilities, so no matter where you are you’ll be able to order all your favourite, hip products from the comfort of your own home and have them shipped anywhere in the world (great for new baby gifts for far flung friends!).
