so crafty

The rain’s back, which means it’s time to get creative with ideas for entertaining your little ones indoors. So continuing with your Olympic theme we’ve got three different crafty ideas, each with their own degree of difficulty.

Why not celebrate the early arrival of spring by making “button flowers” (pictured)? The delightfully creative Lisa of Ink & Button put this craft together just for us and you can get all the details in the yoyo diaries blog. It’s a great way to put your button collection to good use but you will need to stock up on a few specialty items (floral cloth anyone?) before you get started.
Degree of Difficulty: Medium

We asked Erin Collage Collegefrom Collage Collage to come up with an Olympic themed craft for us. Her sustainable craft will last longer than the games and can be used over and over again each time your tots do something medal-worthy. It’s a simple sewing project – for you – that makes an adaptable award so your little Olympian can go for the gold with each new accomplishment. You can create the inserts yourself or siblings can make them for each other and so on. Find all the ‘how to’ info on her blog.
Degree of Difficulty: High

If you’re looking for other ideas we always turn to the site DLTK Crafts for Kids. Packed with printable crafts and colouring pages, this unassuming looking site is the labour of love of a mama who started it as a hobby when her youngest daughter, now 15, was born. We always start with their Top Ten List which currently includes penguin and snowflake crafts for kids of two and up. And, of course, they also have a whole raft of Winter Olympic activities.
Degree of Difficulty: Easy
