we love sleep

In the lead up to Valentine’s Day we’re focusing on things we love and one thing we’re awfully fond of is sleep. In fact there’s not a parent we know who doesn’t long for more of it. After all not enough sleep affects your memory, your weight and your health. But since the sleep cards are already stacked against you when you’ve got little ones, it’s important to make sure the sleep you do get is as healthy as possible, which is where Natura comes into play.
A Canadian company that’s all about healthy sleep, Natura produces mattresses, pillows and bedding for the whole family, pets included. They use natural and organic products including pure virgin and organic wool, Talalay latex and organic cotton which are all allergen-free.
We’ve put their adult and child latex pillows to the test. We must admit we baulked at the idea of latex until we learned that while synthetic latex is made from petrochemicals, natural Talalay latex is breathable, regulates moisture while you sleep and is inhospitable to dust mites. As promised the pillows provided great neck and head support. And for something that feels so heavy, they’re remarkably light and fluffy to sleep on.
There was no doubt that their Comfort Mattress Topper changed our sleep environment dramatically. It helped even out the discrepancies between the hot and cold sleepers in our bed and provided great moisture control, excellent for pregnant and breast-feeding mums who tend to run hot and are affected by hormonal surges.
The Natura site is full of helpful info including handy sleep tips and more. They’ve also just launched www.naturafamily.com which focuses on their baby and kid-friendly offerings.
Alas, doing an en masse replacement of all our bedding with organic alternatives isn’t in the budgetary cards but as our existing pillows and duvets wear out we’re looking to eco-friendly alternatives, because while green is great, better sleep is even greater.

Where can you buy organic Natura mattresses in BC? I did a search on their website and it only lists Sleep Shop in Richmond but they don’t sell the organic line of mattresses.
