everybody dance now

It’s not as if things are going to be business as usual here in Vancouver over the next two weeks and in all likelihood your schedule’s going to be a bit topsy turvy too. You may be away, you may be facing a staggering commute, your kids may be off school or you may be running around town taking in the events. And so things will be a little different around here from now until the closing ceremonies as well. Instead of our regular content we’ll be running a quick, fun idea each day for keeping your kids busy whether you’re at home or on the go. In the spirit of the Games we’ll have lots of ideas for keeping kids active as well as crafts and other fun.
But have no fear, we’ll run our regular weekend guide and keep updating our family-friendly Olympic event listing. And if you’ll be on the go for the next few weeks but want to know what’s happening just text yoyo to 82442 and we’ll send you a different family-friendly event to check out each day for the rest of the Olympics.
The best way to keep your kids interested in sports is to make them fun and few things are as fun as a dance party. Have your kids pick the music themselves or use it as an excuse to introduce them to some of your favourite tunes for rocking out. Not sure if your music is appropriate for your tots? Check out our playlists of kid-friendly adult music.
Then it’s time to get down, march, two step, bounce, teach them the Macarena, boogie and more. If you’re looking for a theme then use our gold medal music tunes to stage your own version of the Opening Ceremonies. Take turns being a torch bearer while the rest of the family cheers and looks on. “Speed skate” in laps around the couch.
Just think, it’s the perfect opportunity to channel your oft neglected air guitar and lip syncing skills….
