all aglow

Babies require a fair amount of organization – both before and after their arrival. Beforehand you’re stocking up on diapers, receiving blankets and gear and after you’re adjusting to your life as a new mum and your baby’s crazy “schedule”. Why not make that adjustment a bit easier with Baby’s First Journal from Canadian company Glow Baby?
Designed by Canadian mum Lindsay Harris, the journal makes it easy to track your newborn’s eating, sleeping and dirty or wet diapers to help give you a sense of your baby’s routine – such as it is. It’s small enough to pop into your diaper bag for doctor and midwife visits and it comes with a coil-bound, design-forward brown cover accented with pink, green or blue and nary a ducky, bunny or teddy in sight.
Our intrepid tester who was welcoming her third baby put the journal through its paces. It helped keep her organized during the first few sleepless weeks and was great for reports to her caregivers, as it can be hard to remember how many feeds and dirty or wet diapers a day you’re dealing with when you’re in a daze. She also used it to track her baby’s weight, engorgement, which side she nursed on, umbilical cord healing, poop progression from meconium to green to seedy mustard yellow, baths, vitamin D drops and even funny thing said by siblings like “What’s that baby’s name again?” This when the baby was a week old.
The only downside she found was that there wasn’t enough room for notes to track cute family moments or make comments. Her suggestion? Glow baby add a page at the end of each week to write a summary of milestones.
This is a great gift for both first-time mums who are trying to find some method in the newborn madness and experienced mums who have a hard time remembering which side they last nursed on or whether or not they’ve administered Vitamin D drops when they’re tending to their other tots too. We’d recommend snagging yours – or adding it to your baby shower wish list – before your babe arrives so you can start tracking right from the get go.
Though not a baby book in any traditional sense, we predict this will be kept and treasured for years to come.

[...] Glow Baby Journal If feeling organized makes you happy you’ll want to get (or be given) one of these handy journals before your babe comes along. It allows you to track your newborn’s routines – such as they are - and gives you the answers at your fingertips, rather than having to cast your mind back, when your caregiver wants to know how many dirty and wet diapers your baby is having in a day, or how much sleep they’re getting (or not).
