This month in honour of the new year, we’re taking inspiration to another level with our Mamas Rock profile of Danielle LaPorte, published author, inspirational speaker and intuitive business advisor.  If you are looking for unique and exclusive insight into your business and life then Danielle is your woman. Danielle is the former director of a Washington DC think tank and lead author of Style Statement: Live By Your Own Design.

In the fall of 2008 Danielle launched her website whitehottruth.com to fulfill a “burning, almost obsessive desire to inspire self realization – in myself and others, and to have a great lifestyle as part of that.”  Danielle uses the site as a writing forum but she also speaks to audiences at conferences and on a weekly segment on CBC. Her incredibly popular Fire Starter sessions enable clients to talk one on one during brainstorms which are “packed with practicality”.

Lived experience, financial survival and creative desire combined with the birth of her son (now almost six) which brought about the  self realization that she wanted to devote herself to her art in order to teach him “to live his live in integrity, in full colour” motivated her to start her business.

Working from her East Van home suits Danielle’s “introverted, controlling and creative” personality despite missing the perks of an assistant and go-to tech guy from her life in an office. Danielle is able to bike her boy to school every day, benefitting from full day kindergarten and being able to share pick ups with her husband, enabling her work day to be structured and focused.

Danielle describes the rewards from her work, as infinite, living on her terms, making great money and making a difference in people’s lives.

Entrepreneurial Tip:

“Keep it pointed to where you want it go, make sure today is leading to your ideal tomorrow, not away from it”.
