We’re guessing there’s still room in your stockings, so here are more ideas to help you get stuffed:

Papoose Finger Puppets: You can feel good about giving these puppets because they’re hand-made in Nepal from 100% wool felt using fair labour and wages. But you’ll feel even better when you see how they engage your children in open-ended, imaginative play. Each set – and you can choose from everything from a King and Queen Set to Garden Creatures, Pirates and Red Riding Hood – come with four slightly naïve characters. Best for kids over two (and bigger kids will love them too), find them at www.betterbabybums.com.

Earthzone Pencils: Thanks to Vancouver-based architect Matty Scolozzi, Earthzone turns trash (a.k.a. newsprint) into treasured pencils using no toxic chemicals or wood. You can get plain and coloured pencils and we’re thrilled that each set comes with its own sturdy sharpener and even the shavings are recyclable. And we’re not sure quite how they do it but Earthzone pencils last longer and sharpen more easily than conventional wooden pencils. Here’s where to find them.

Dandelion Organic Earth Friendly Goods Toddler Bowls Made from Corn:  Designed to help your tots transition to mealtime independence these deep-sided bowls are made from PLA, or corn-based bioplastic which is made from renewable resources and doesn’t contain BPA or phthalates but is just as sturdy as regular plastic. They’re also light, portable and well-priced. The line also contains divided plates and flatware which could all combine into a stocking stuffed with the potential of eco-friendly independent self-feeding. Recommended for toddlers, find them at www.raspberrykids.com.

Piggy Paint Jingle Nail Rock: We’ve already covered Piggy Paint’s Natural as Mud, non-toxic nail polish before but for the holidays they’re offering “Jingle Nail Rock” and “MistleToes” combos of  of Sometimes Sweet (red) and Ice Cream Dream (green) along with either a polish remover or a sparkly top coat. Just think how festive and chemical-free your whole family’s fingers and toes could be on Christmas morning. We suggest they’re best for kids who are past the thumb sucking stage and here’s where you can find them.

Mally Bibs Change Purse: No matter how much you love your child’s Mally Bib, at a certain point they irrevocably outgrow the need for it and you are left Mally-free. But, now they have started using the scraps from their bib manufacturing to create cute little coin purses decorated in manly stripes and more feminine florals for bib-free kids who need somewhere safe to keep their tooth fairy money. They also use scrap leather to make passport covers, if travel’s in your future. Find them at www.esty.com.

Phew! This week has been packed with great gifts for giving, but we’re still brimming with ideas for books and music, so watch for those coming soon.
