Halloween’s almost here and so is our annual list of all the haunted happenings around town. We’ve got both ongoing and one off events, plus a list of local pumpkin patches and we’ll keep updating this list throughout the month so do bookmark this page and keep checking back for lots of spooktacular fun! And if there are any creepy events you think we should know about, send us an email with all the details.
Ongoing Events:
Street of Screams Ghost Train & Scarousel

Creatures of the Night Walk
October 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th, 31st & November 1st, 7 pm – 9:30 pm, Stanley Park Miniature Train Plaza, Vancouver
In keeping with the Ghost Train’s theme of the Underworld (see below), denizens of the underworld will guide you into the park’s nighttime world of bats, flying squirrels and mores. Walks leave the plaza every half hour from 7 pm until 9:30 pm: www.stanleyparkecology.ca
Stanley Park Ghost Train
October 9th – November 1st, 2009, 6 pm – 10 pm nightly, Stanley Park Miniature Railway, Vancouver
This year’s Ghost Train is alive with creatures from the underworld – zombies, voodoo gods, wild women of the woods, three-headed dogs and Mexican witches’ brew, all thanks to Vancouver’s Mortal Coil Performance Society. Plus there’ll also be face painting, a shadow puppet theatre and the Children’s Haunted Farmyard, which opens at 5 pm each evening. Ghost Walks
Weekends in October: 9th – 11th, 16th – 18th & 23rd – 25th, 7 pm – 9 pm, Fort Langley National Historic Site, Fort Langley
A costumed guide will lead you on a chilling tour into the past and tales of the long-dead residents. Keep your eyes peeled for ghosts! Children’s Halloween Fair & Train
October 10th – October 31st, 10 am -5 pm, Bear Creek Park Train, Surrey
The park may be full of fear when the scream train rides at night, but during the day things are little less scary with Halloween crafts and games, treats and you can ride the train through the Halloween forest display: bctrains.com
Pirate Train
October 14th – November 1st, Brentwood Town Centre, Centre Court, 4567 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby

Haunted Forest Scream Train
October 16th – October 31st, 6:30 pm – 10 pm, Bear Creek Park Train, Surrey
This ride is recommended for “mature youngsters”. With scary sounds and experiences and characters from years past, including Chainsaw Charlie, the ride goes on every night, no matter what the weather: bctrains.com
Ghost Ridge Haunted House
October 24th – October 30th, 6 pm – 9 pm, Albion Fairgrounds, 23448 – 105 Avenue, Maple Ridge
This annual fundraiser for charities in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows offers fun that’s just spooky enough for the whole family. And they’ll be holding a big fireworks finale on the 30th: www.ghostridge.or
Haunted Cannery Tours
October 24th, 25th & 31st, various times, Gulf of Georgia Cannery, 12138 Fourth Avenue, Richmond
Join the Cannery’s ghosts for a spooky Halloween history. On the 24th & 25th the 1 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4 pm tours are their traditional tours, while the 5:30 pm tour is extra spooky and not recommended for tots. Haunted Village
October 28th , 29th & 30th, 6 pm – 9 pm, Burnaby Village Museum, 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
The village ghouls are hosting a travelling circus in Burnaby and they need you to help solve a mystery. Neither waning moon nor rain nor shine will get in the way of this event that includes trick-or-treating for tots: burnabyvillagemuseum.ca
Eerie Nights of Fright
October 29th – 31st, 6:30 pm – 10 pm, Fort Langley National Historic Site, Fort Langley
Fort Langley gets seriously spooky just in time for Halloween. Tours take place every half hour starting at 6:30 pm and you can take non “boo” tours at 6:30 and 7 pm: www.pc.gc.ca
Halloween on the Heights

Fun, festive and not too frightening, this annual event includes trick-or-treating with the local merchants, a spooky train ride at Confederation Park’s Burnaby Central Railway, a pumpkin design prize draw and more: www.burnabyheights.com

Halloween Costume Swap

Pumpkin Patch Fun Day

Celebrate family, community and the harvest with pony rides, face painting, bouncy castles, carnival games and pumpkins. There’ll be lots of goodies and treats too.
Queens Park Pumpkin Patch

Place des Arts Fun Day

Westham Island Herb Farm Pumpkin Patch

Not just a Pumpkin Patch but Ladner’s self professed Halloween headquarters. In addition to pumpkins you’ll find a great display of scarecrows, a spooktacular haunted Quonset hut and you can catch the seasonal decorating spirit by stocking up on ornamental gourds, corn stalks, miniature and full size hay bales and more.
